ea skate no contest. th is good in the begginning but is stuck on old ideas from pro skater1-project8. ea skate is realistic and fresh. it never dies out. there is always a new line or pool. ea skate rulessssssssssssss!!!!!!!!!!!

Skate is too realistic and gets boring quick. I like to be able to pull off completely un-realistic combos in a skating game. It's more intense and fun that way. Skate is like omg I did a 360 with a grab that was way too sick.

I couldn't either, at first. I'm not gonna lie...with Skate, the learning curve is ridiculous.   That's probably what got me hooked on it the most.  When you nail a  long combo or do something spectacular in the game, you actually feel like you did something because you had all the control in every little aspect of the highlight.

I agree, learning the curve is seriously ridiculous! I do like games where I have to work at it, but skate is to much work for me. It is pretty realistic though, so that's kinda fun. But some people just want a game where you can do all kinds of crazy things that you couldn't do normally. So that's where Tony Hawk would come in. lol

Well, now that you mention it, the two games are apples and oranges.  TH is arcade style and Skate is simulation, so naturally there will be varying tastes depending on the gamer.  It's like comparing Burnout to Forza...yeah, they are both racers, but I prefer Burnout because all that nit-picking and customization in Forza bores the heck out of me.

Yeah agree with jaydukes they are both different styles. So they can't be compared in a sense but still people do. I know you say you feel awesome when you pull off a sweet combo. I didn't with that game (I only played the demo) and I just didn't get into it. It might of been the camera angle that put me off.

I feel that way when I finish a classic goal at sick. Or finishing harbour bridge hawk man at sick I threw my pad up and banged the ceiling I was buzzing. Doing a classic in one combo is always fun and I think that takes quite some skill. Just like I can imagine all the combinations of moving the analog stick in various ways will take skill. I don't think hawks / skate should be compared though... ones arcade and ones sim. That is like you say... apples and oranges :)

That's all I played to was the demo for Skate 2, I just don't think I could really get into the game. Tony Hawk is more like if you have never played a Tony Hawk game, you will get the hang of pretty quickly. Skate takes some getting used to and even after I played it for a while I still couldn't get into it.

i agree skate it where its at    i used to skate and then i tore my acl and had to get knee reconstruction, so now i cant skate as much as i like.   then there came the skate franchise to fill the void ,and the variety of  tricks and the old school slash grinds feels like im right back in the saddle    i mean instead of it being a locked into a grind with a button mash you have to regulate the speed you have and ollie or nollie up on and fakie off if you like. you can feel it way better than that  washed up tony hawk with all that lag.    i mean you could actually get a bunch of freinds together at a halfpipe get up on the platforms and have a old school snake session just like the good times at the local half pipe or pool its such a buzz     its the closest your gonna get to the feeling without worrying about getting hurt being that you cant just bounce back up after that nasty slam like you used to .      tony hawk used to be where it was at i mean tony aint going to put his name on junk, but there is a new sheriff in town and its name is realistic .     tony has got some stepping up to do and i think he knows it          no more sack taps       its all about the smith grind reverts and 5 0's to fakie-------if you could only do *** chinks          its kind of like the playstation v/s xbox [hawk v/s skate]    playstation used to be the thing now xbox is where its at         its a no brainer       sorry sony its a fact you shouldnt have dropped the ball.............

that just goes to show if you can just pick it up and play with no exp whats the challenge in that.     and if you only played the demo that isnt enough   i mean how long is the demo 6 minutes at the most.   go give it a rent so you can give at chance     sounds like you are convincing women and children to play it      skate has closer to real life parks and pool to get down in         take a look at the spotlight trailer in the market place and see how the profesoinals reacted to it . the word is stoked    they would actually practice with the game on a trick they had been working on and  perfect it on the game and  then go out and make it happen      even make up new tricks to add to thier arsenal    all while being stoked as  ***  that they  finally  learned it    it just makes sense        oh and your probably so used to the tony hawk controls that its got you frustrated          the analog sticks smokes those stank *** buttons       case closed    cancel christmas

After spending quite a few hours with Skate 2, I finally had to pick up THPG.
Like others said Skate 2 is a sim (big learning curve) and TH games are arcade style (button mashing).
