Just bought this game today from a bargain bin at my local Kmart and when I got home to play it, I activated the Radiator Springs GP from an area on the map but for some reason, when I come first in the race, the achievement for "Radiator Springs GP" doesn't unlock.

Can anyone shed some light on this? Is it an achievement glitch?

If you are talking about the first race in the game, it is a dream that the character had. The race you get the achievement for is closer to the end of the game.
