Far Cry 2 was/is definitely a very ambitious game. But I found it as immersive as it was lacking. One really go just about anywhere in a very well-rendered world, but only to do the same monotonous things in order to advance the scripting of the story.

Far Cry 3 has been confirmed, of a sorts, but that was over a year ago now and before FC2 even hit retail shelves. So, under the assumption that Ubisoft is indeed working on a Far Cry 3, what would be your suggestions and proposed changes to the gameplay?

I'll outline the biggest one that I think needs to be changed.

The Automatic Hate Engine needs a good tuning. I think that when coming to checkpoints and guard posts, you should have different options that create different results. For example, you could either blow right through the checkpoint at top speed, either running over some guys, knocking their equipment around, or just plain ticking them off at your rudeness, which would trigger the usual machine gun jeep chase/encounter.

Or you could approach slowly, and pay your way through with diamonds so as to avoid what is an inevitable bullet-riddled chase in Far Cry 2.

Or you could stop, exit your vehicle, find the guard post foreman, and perhaps offer up a handful of diamonds for information that would update your map or provide background on your current targets or objectives. And everything you do would build into a constantly updating rep meter, meaning that if you perform the first option, your rep would go up, but only along with the increasing likelihood that anyone you see is going to open fire on you immediately.

At any rate, it would be nice to have options available instead of just resigning yourself to the fact that every single person in Africa wants you dead on sight, for no reason whatsoever.

What are your ideas?

I like what you wrote. There needs to be multiple ways to deal with  the guarded checkpoints. Maybe you can do a favor for the guard in charge(kill someone, steal something, etc) and then from that point on when you pass throught that checkpoint, you have no problems. Unless of course you end up shooting one of the guys or run them over, then they could give chase lol.

I think the next game needs more modes of transportation. Specifically motorcylces or dirt bikes and you could also shoot while your driving them too. Planes! FC2 desperately needed planes imo. How cool would it have been to be able to grab a bushplane or helicopter and just explore the whole map or go to your next mission?

If its in a country with wild animals actually have the animals in it eg. this one was in africa and had gazzele/antelope, zebras and wildebeast but no predatory animals even though you hear hyenas... just imagine stalking up on an enemy incampment without even knowing your being stalked yourself...

Another thing I was thinking of was having an acceleration boost on the vehicles.

Like if you've just blown through a guard post because you're low on ammo or really just don't feel like dealing with having a couple hundred AK rounds thrown your way, and the guards do give chase, I was thinking that two full pulls on the right trigger could up your speed to maybe 50 mph.

If Ubi felt the need to balance this out in the campaign they could impose a gas-guzzling feature that means you can't just hold it down forever. Or - the idea I like more - is if you don't make that turn and hit that tree - you're dead, splattered out through the windshield.

thought of another one... the ability to climb tree's, would come in handy when you want to ambush enemy from above with grenades

Forget jumping in a tree and hurling grenades instead dive down ninga style when the enemy isn't looking and slash them with your blade. Thats what the old FC was like, a little more stealthy than FC2 plus there was traps. When and if FC3 comes out I want a gameplay thats more like the old FC. I also want an even more advanced map editor preferably one that allows me to make waterfalls among other things. I also want a helicopter, nothing fancy, just one of those small helicopters like one of those little blackbirds from black hawk down.

Here are my suggestions:

1. Better destruction.
2. Set in Russia or a similar country.
3. Add prone as a stance.
4. Smarter AI for harder difficulties (Infamous was too easy on Far Cry 2).
5. A map editor which lets you edit the singleplayer world.
6. Make it so you're allowed to edit Ubisoft maps.
7. If there is DLC, make it worth whatever you charge for it.
8. Add a screen effect for blood.
9. More realistic car physics.
10. If there is a camo suit, make it work this time.

I'll add more if I think of any.

they need to fix that and the horrible hit detection.

Make the vehicles in MP actually useful like they were in FCIP.  The boat is the worst.
Increase the vehicle limit on custom maps.  6 is way too low.

Bring back the ATV and Jet Skis

Make it nothing like farcry 2!!!!!!(horrible)

Don't need FarCry 3 when Crysis 2 is coming out next year. That will be more of a FarCry game than FC2 ever was.

FC3 needs some better multiplayer options,basic's get boring quick
host booting is a total pain ,way too abused
a co  op mode
sort out cheating 5 shots to head no kill and get taken out with a single pistol round by the same person,
more game variety and yes aircraft or other modes of transport
freedom with loadouts ,ie personalisation scopes ,redots ,silencers

I'm surprised that you can still find matches. Well I don't play Far Cry 2 much anymore, and if I do it is to make a map and play it with one of my friends. I agree with you that we need freedom with loadouts though.
