This is impossible. I got past his first stage now he has this HUGE *** flying mace which never misses and he throws those traps every 15 seconds at me. How the *** do you hit him without taking enough damage to die. It takes like 2 hits and im dead. Who ever got past this please share your advice. I'm playing on medium right now cant imagine this on king diffculty. Plus his roar is so f-ing annoying to because its the same damn thing. This is really getting on my nerves im glad i didnt waste 60 bucks on this crap filled full of bugs game.

Most boss fights in Conan are about timing and patience coupled with observing your enemy's movements. Bonecleaver is no exception.

The ranged attack that forces you into a cutscene is easily avoidable with a simple dodge. You'll notice right before it is thrown, for a brief moment, the gameplay is slowed. Take this as your warning to dodge.

I've only encountered two other attacks with the mace. One is a ground-pounding attack with a damage radius that deals massive damage and can really only be avoided by jumping at the right moment. In this instance, your warning is when Bonecleaver swings his mace above his head several times before slamming it into the ground. The second attack is a rather quick horizontal strike that I believe is blockable. Alternatively, you may wish to dodge just in case. I always try to go into boss fights with a shield as it can absorb a wider variety of attacks that weapons can't.

Other than that, just be patient and mindful of your timing. The biggest mistake is to try to squeeze too many attacks in only to get a fat welcome from Bonecleaver's mace. If you weren't already aware, the urns in the boss fight arena are breakable and give you some health back when needed. Good luck.

Yea thanks alot, but i got it by luck. He kept doing the floor smash over and over again and i always rolled at the right time and took no damage yay glitches. Now im stuck on another level lol

He was difficult but I found an easy way to beat him.  Use the Two-Handed sword that is just to your right when the battle starts and use Y-Y.  If you roll up to him, hit Y-Y the second slash will always connect and still give you time to roll away.  This works on both the first and second part.

Same here. The roll in/roll out tactic works well on him. Otherwise he really is cheap as ***.  I definitely spewed my fair share of cuss words till I figured out a working tactic.

Yeah! I'm stuck as F_(< on this one too!!! I heve had no problem at all on this game until now. I really hate it when devs put some ridiculous crap in otherwise awesome games that make it this annoying!

This guy is literally kicking my ***. I think I've been on him for over an hour now.  I just can't seem to get a single hit in. Dual wielding is terrible so I picked up the 2-hander but then my attacks are so slow. All it takes is that kick to the face and I can barely avoid his attacks afterwards.  /sigh. Gotta keep on trucking. Maybe a shower will help -_-

Omg I finally did it. I could burst into tears right about now.  Anyways, for those still having trouble. I developed a strategy that worked great for met. A little lengthy but it works.

At first I thought dual wielding would be terrible but it turned out to fit.  If you hit X and immediately roll in a direction this should fake him out and cause him to kick, leaving him open.  This way you can get 2 hits in each time. You'll get hit sometimes but it's not enough damage to kill you (assuming you roll out of the radius attack that follows the kick).

I found the second half to be even easier, he seems to be a lot more predictable and leaves openings after his attacks for a much longer time period. Just roll in and out and let him do the double swing with the mace. Then go in and hit him.  Jump when he does that radius attack and feel free to pound in on him for a few seconds.

I'll have to try that. I put this game on hiatus due to that stupid Bone Cleaver 2. Well,  that and COD4 and Jericho.

Just type 'Conan Bone Cleaver' on you tube, there a couple of people showing you how to do it on there that how i got through it.

UFC 106, Nov. 21st - Forrest Griffin baby!!!

Your at Stage 1, when you defeat him he gets out his Mace and away you go again. :)

Alright yeah found that out... Finally beat him last night with the dodge, roll & hit ruotine. Was hoping to kill him the first play through but the button sequence didn't show up and he pulled out the flail. Oh well, it was actually easy once I figured out what to do. Thanks.

I used the uppercut technique XY with a two handed weapon and kept rolling around him. Does good damage and is a reasonable fast move too.

I beat him yesterday, my strategy was based on what I read in Gamefaqs. First of all, use rain of fire or whatever you prefer to quickly kill the lion (cause it will not do much harm on Cleaver). The boss will only lock you up on his Bolas if you're relatively away from him, now, get REALLY close to him, like REALLY close against his body, if he refuses to kick you, then simply attack him with a strong combo, I used "X X Y Y" wth two swords, but all that matters is that it is strong, quick and you're used to it (so you don't get lost in the middle of the combo), this combo I said managed to even break his defense by the end of the combo, anyway, PRAY that he kicks you, that will stun you, as soon as that happens start abusing the rolling button, get of his atack and roll right back at him and then use the combo on him. I got lucky enough that soon after he changed the sword for the "chain and ball" I got myself a "death song" which allowed me to crucify him, once his health is depleted a B prompt will show up, finsih him ;)

ATTENTION: I fought him on Hard mode, so both stage3s are obligatory battles; however it seems that in lower difficulties the prompt will show up right after the first stage of the battle, and if you press the buttom at the exact time (just like you would in any other boss battle) you'll finish him and skip the second part of the fight. This CANNOT be done in Hard mode. I never tryed to check the veracity of the statement, but it's waht is written in Gamefaqs.

I'm obviously really late to the game but I just beat this game and I did on hard mode.  I didn't even know there was a second mode to Bone Cleaver 2 because as soon as that B button popped up I pressed it.  I had him low on health and knew something would pop up so I was ready for it.  Bone Cleaver is by far my least favorite.  I used the kick trick without reading any tips, I just noticed it didn't do much damage and rolled out of the way afterwards.  Seemed to be working and I always used Dual wield because it had the easiest and most effective combos.  All the pieces just fell in the right place for me I guess.

Then I died 74 times fighting the last boss.  I used meteor storm and then Raven plague to get rid of the black oil dudes the first two times but had no money for the last wave which sucked.  I had to have died 30 times on that one alone.  pretty cheap, but pretty intense too.  Reminded me of the good old SNES days of frustration and perseverance when playing a challenging game.

Then what you do is jump at him (at his head) and at the last moment press Y attack. You will hit him once and 9 times out of 10 he immediately starts counter attacking with big splash ground hit. Right after you landed roll at him - he will hit the ground with his sword but it doesn't damage you during the roll. After that just hit him 2 times with Y attack and roll back.

The second part of the battle if relatively easy - you can just roll around him and wait for his splash attacks, then just roll and hit YY.

i wish i read this before spending an hour trying this with my double handed weapon not getting even a quarter off his 1st bar of health! would have saved the control fly across the room.  Thanks for the strategy i hope this is the worst part of the game for me i can't take much more frustration!!!!!! (hard im playing on king will suck for me i bet)

UFC is the best

I just beat him on Hard mode today, using dual-wield with the axes on the weapon rack to the left of the room.  I died a lot at first but finally found a way that worked good for me.  I just danced around near him until he did an attack (roll sideways so that it misses), then would hit him with the X, X, Y, Y combo (black river rage or something like that), then immediately roll away.  If he does the big shockwave hit then jump into the air to avoid getting hit by the area of effect damage.  Rinsed and repeated until he went down.
