Giant worm's mission 3

Is there an easy way of killing these worm's? I tried for ages wid a machine gun n a lazer gun and got three of the orange spot's of each side of one of the worm's then there's another two which are hidden under ground! and only come out for like two sec's then there back under!!! was doing my head insane! lol.

If anyone has any tip's on how to kill or which gun's are best to use then thank you very much...

Cheer's

I tried killing that thing FOREVER! I never succeeded so I took the easy way out by just sticking close to the ice wall while crossing the plains.  He still is around making some noise, but never bothered me the entire way!

Re: Giant worm's mission 3
You've only got to kill it one time and then complete the level. I actually killed it with only 5 of the TE pods destroyed. If you fire a rocket down its throat that does some very good damage. Just keep shooting at it until you kill it (you will get a huge pool of TE).

Yes, i heard when the music stops and the worm goes away you have gotten the achievement, but you have to book it after because he respawns. You have to finish the level though in order to get it, the cheevo doesn't come up after the worm diappears.

This is an old thread, and i still havn't tried this mision, lol

Just did this yesterday, so it's fresh in my head.

For me I brought the VS with full ammo to the very beginning of the area where it spawns (JUST past the fence that has the Target Mark). You have to get out, because the worm will destroy the VS if it spawns with you in it. My two handhelds were the energy weapon (infinite ammo, it's in the snow right in front of the first data point), and a full machine gun.

I grabbed the minigun from the VS (dropping my machine gun there) and used it up firing at the worm. Then when it was empty I went back to the VS to grab my machine gun- after that all my ammo was found in the snow, but the energy gun was pretty much enough to take him out. It's also useful for clearing out all the baddies in the sky as it seems to hone in on them- and get you lots of energy.

General tips: you can attack more freely when his tail is in the air, but try to dodge to the side when the head is out- if he eats you it's instant FAIL.

When he dies, instead of diving back into the ground quickly and vertically he kind of sinks slowly and horizontally. Also he sinks still, unlike his active diving self. Don't worry if you see it again after that, because he respawns. You'll be able to tell that you actually killed him because his spots are healed.

/nevermind I see you got it... but it's good advice for anyone else who needs this later Wink [;)]

I'm glad it's ending up being useful! I felt kind of dumb for not noticing that they had gotten the achievement before I wrote the response.

Let us know if it works/helps.

Subscribed. I'm at mission 3. Heard about these mofos being tough. I'll try the mission by myself a couple times. Then I'll come back to the thread if I can't make it. :)

Re: Giant worm's mission 3
I just took one out last night with the rocket launcher. I'd let him charge then shoot him in the mouth. After a few shots he sprung up out of the ice and the music stopped so I hauled a$$ to the end of the level. It was pretty annoying with a lot of running around in circles but a satisfying 50 GS.

Man im trying this tonight,  i got stuck for an hour trying to kill this thing and it came back everytime.
For how much trouble it is to kill this thing it would be sweet if you could drag it back to a fire pit and cook it.  :o)

all you have to do is wait till it stops coming up and the music stops playing, and then leg it out of there because it will return with full health

I honestly dont remember having too much trouble with this worm Huh? [:^)] I mean I never remembering hauling a$$ to get the achievement after it died. Then again, I haven't played this game since January, but whatever. Good luck to you worm hunters and congrats to those worm killers Wink [;)]

Exactly. I had a weird situation with this though. So I used cheats to do unlimited ammo and health. I hit the worm a few times with rockets but I took out maybe 2 of the spots on the side. I never successfully fired a rocket down its mouth. But whatever I did (hitting the worm a bunch of times with rockets), it was enough to get the music to go away. 1 thing that helped was I camped out near the exit of the level so I would be near it in the event that I "killed" the worm and legged it out of there. And got the achievement after finishing the level.
