I thought Armageddon was fairly good but it could've been better. How much better or worse is this game compared to that one?

Your right, this game is good. 
But not as good as Armaggedon, although armageddon is nothing compared to MK deception, i realy wish there would be a 360 remake for this game.

Well Armaggedon was sort of like a modernized MK Triliogy.  A greatest hits of sorts.  Where they included all the characters and a lot of the best Arenas from Deception, Deadly Alliance and remade arenas from the older games.
MK vs. DC is a whole new thing.  New gameplay, fighting mechanics, arenas, moves etc....
Also Armaggedon was rushed.  There are really little to no ending for each character, and they decided on the Kreate-A-Fatality. 
MK vs DC fighters each have 2 Fatalities each.  Even if they are lame.

Anyways both a great fighting games.
