I really think they should make MechAssault backwards compatible on the Xbox 360. It was a really good game. Anybody know if they are ever going to make it backward compatible for the Xbox 360?

From what I hear in the rumor mill is that the game is going to release on XBOX originals.

I heard the same thing, but you have to wonder.  Wouldn't the game have already been released as an Xbox Original if they were going to make it one?  I also heard there were problems when it was sent for testing.

I'm still keeping the faith!

This is still my all time favourite Xbox game. I wish this was playable on the 360 now because my old Xbox died so I traded it in but if it came out backwards compatible I'd find a platinum hits copy somewhere or buy an Xbox Originals version if it does come out.

Yeah, they already made MechAssault 2 compatible on the 360. Why can't they do it for the original game? It can't be too complicated. It should be similar to MechAssault 2. Hopefully it will be in the next update.

I agree... i just got this game a few months ago and didn't know it wasn't backwards compatible.... i don't want to take it back to the store and trade it in for only a dollar for it when it cost a lot more than that since it hasn't even been played...

I've actually heard rumors that Microsoft isn't going to release that many more backward compatibility updates anymore. In fact, I heard that the NOV 07 update may very well have been the last backwards compatibility update. Can anyone else confirm whether this is true or not? I really hope it isn't.

I forgot to mention that the NOV 07 update may have been the last downloadable update. The rumor I heard also states that if that update was the last one, then Microsoft will mainly focus on the Xbox Originals instead. So it still may be possible to get the original MechAssault on the 360. The problem is that you would have to buy it again even if you own the original disc. That's why Microsoft should still release downloadable updates for the original MechAssault.

I wouldn't mind buying it again as an Xbox Original.

I can almost guarantee if they release this game on Xbox Originals it would be the top seller for a while.

I agree. As far as I know, a lot of people who still have the original Xbox still play this game online from time to time. If they release it as an Xbox Original or make it backward compatible, then a lot of people would play it again.

It seems like Microsoft is done with adding more games to the backward compatibility list. They haven't had an update for a very long time. It's kind of strange, MechAssault was pretty much the game that got Xbox Live started and made the service popular. True Halo eventually dominated Xbox Live, but if it wasn't for MechAssault, not as many people would have wanted to try out Xbox Live in the first place. So after all that history with MechAssault, Microsoft decides not to make it compatible with the Xbox 360. It's a bit ironic if you ask me. They're pretty much just abandoning the game that got Xbox Live started. It would be like when the next generation Xbox comes out, Microsoft decides to abandon Halo 3. They probably wouldn't but that's basically what they are doing with MechAssault. Microsoft, if you are reading this, please do one more backward compatibility update and make MechAssault playable on the Xbox 360!

I think that one of the reasons that can't play with backward MechAssault in XBOX 360 is the thing I have read in several Websites that this is one of the "BAD GAMES" that made flashing the Black XBOX and let read illegal copies of games. what do you think?

Yeah it's true that it certain versions of MechAssault 1 was used to hack the original Xbox. But that hack won't work on the Xbox 360 anymore since the 360 is a totally different system. So I don't think that's the reason why MechAssault hasn't been made backwards compatible on the 360. Plus, it's not just MechAssault 1 that isn't backwards compatible. There are still several other games that haven't been made backwards compatible yet. In fact, Microsoft hasn't released a backwards compatibility update for awhile.

The disc has something different done to it, thus making it unable to play on the Xbox 360. The November of '07 backwards compatibility update was the last one. I know this stuff by reading through some of the other threads to get MechAssault 1 on the BC list.

Are you sure? I haven't read any official info from Microsoft saying that the November 07 update was the last one. And I doubt the problem is with the disc. Halo 1 uses the oldest version of the original xbox discs and it can still work on the 360. Plus, there are two MechAssault discs. The regular version and the platinum version. One of the two versions must work.

we'll just need to wait and see. if they didn't add MA1, then i doubt they will add it. MS likes to add Barbie games that no one wants to play instead.

Yeah you're right. I do find it strange that they added MechAssault 2 but not 1. Usually they add the entire series at once like Halo 1 and 2.
