Crytek buys Free Radical - Battlefront 3 possibly saved!
News from kotaku.com and 1up.com
The makers of the FarCry series have bailed out Free Radical and as of now we do not know if any of the employees will be returning to finish their projects, just that the company has been saved and most likely the projects on which they were working including Timesplitters 4 and Star Wars: Battlefront 3 will continue.

If they retain the employees and/or do not deviate from the production that was already in place on an obviously late-stage development game, we may even see a final product that's not too far off from what we saw in the leaked footage.

yeah i heard that as well,no matter what happens to Free Radical now,i think BF 3 is well out of their hands, and possibly in the hands that Lucasarts are rumoured to of given the project to(Rebellion)

Well at least Timesplitters 4 could be saved although it would be weird that they're saved now and not working on Battlefront 3 that they so obviously got to a late stage of development.

I hate to say it but Timesplitters has a higher chance of being saved than the Battlefront series, a much bigger and more dedicated fanbase...

I'm trying to follow the news on this as best I can. Last I read came from theforce.net:

"Just wanted to let you know that the troubled development of Star Wars: Battlefront 3 has taken another interesting twist. After jumping from the sinking ship Free Radical to Rebellion, who are currently hard at work on Aliens vs. Predator 3, it has now been handed back into the hands of the developer of the first two installments – Pandemic."

Story is here...

oh man, i was hoping that with the bailout FR would get it back. But, im kinda lost here, the FR leaked footage wasnt gameplay, but pre-rendered? looked like most of it was gameplay to me...

Just caught this news at theforce.net...

'...the Official Pandemic Studios forums where community manager Mathew Everett offered up the following response to BF3 / Pandemic rumors...

"As of right now I can say Battlefront 3 is not currently at Pandemic. While I know the title seems to be up in the air from all the buzz around the web... Lucas Arts will be the only one knowing where the title is at right now."  '

A word from Lucas Arts on this would be good... but i'm not holding my breath.

while i did enjoy BF1/2, i can say im relieved that BF3 isnt with Pandemic because i was worried that it would turn out playing like LoTR: Conquest

Well, if they do get the go ahead with BF3, it better have the same gameplay as BF1.  BF2 was just....meh....

The only thing that was different in BF2 was that, 1: You could play as Heros/Villians, and 2: You could KILL Heros/Villians, in BF1, the only way of killing any Hero/Villian I could find was on Kamino, playing Republic, and using grenade to try and bounce Dooku off the platforms, look I really enjoyed what I saw from Free Radical, it had no "emphasis" on one single area, it had seamless planetary/space flight/fights, custom soldiers, and improved Hero/Villian moves/abilities, and lets not forget to mention, Free Radical claimed to have taken elements from games like CoD4 for its trooper battles, Free Radicals version of BF3 probably would have been epic

You can land a ship on them or run them over with a tank but it's tricky, the most effective way is on maps with speeder bikes. You can even use a Taun-taun. Don't forget about Platforms, a really nice place to send a Jedi falling to his death, or the Sarlaac pit if you're really good with explosives. Try getting a Jedi to chase you out of bounds, that doesn't give you the kill though, only death for both of you. Occationally, an air strike will work. Jedi in BF1 can be killed, they take a LOT of damage though.

Death by speeder bike impaling is the quickest and easiest way and you even get the joy of seeing "AK Hunter87 killed Luke Skywalker" as well as the kill point.
