TECHNICALLY, you're only dirtying the one cup.  Since the portals prevent the coffee from getting into the first two.   You're not thinking with portals.  :P

Re: A picture that sums up Portal nicely
If portal technology like that existed you'd never really have to go outside.
You could just open a portal that takes you straight to work/school/the shops or what ever.
It would also be very environmentally friendly as no one would need to ever drive a car.
Even you post/deliveries would get to you quicker.
Imagine ordering something from Amazon, and it would turn up right away as they'd open a portal right to your house and pop it through.
Going on holiday would be a lot easier too.
Instead of driving to the airport, getting on a plane, flying to your destination and then driving from the airport to your hotel, you could just open a portal straight to your hotel.

The possibilities are endless.

Nope. They would have to come to you and shoot the portal. You can't open both ends of a portal from one spot (unless the portals are right next to each other of course).

Unless a different way of creating the portals was used.
Say you have a portal generator at your home with either a code of a key to access it.
Then, other portal generators in different places.
For example where you work.
Then you just dial in a code to work, the portal opens at each end and you step through, into your work place without actually having to go outside.

Or if you were ordering something online from Amazon for example, you dial in a code to their collection point, a portal opens at both ends and they hand over your CD or DVD that you have just ordered.
Instant "delivery" and no one had to move more than a few feet.
