What you've got to remember is that whenever you succeed at a move you become stronger in that move.
If you can get someone to let you pin them a few times in online matches your character's pin will become so powerful that no one will be able to escape from it.
It's not just restricted to pins but to all sorts of moves and abilities.
This leads to a huge imbalance online.
The first wave stopped playing because they got bored of being the "whipping dolls" for all the Japanese guys who had the game for months before the US and European releases.
The second wave stopped playing because the only matches available were fair fights.
