Can anyone tell me what type of armor all the party members wear by default when you get them?

Shepard-Onyx, Kaidan-Onyx, Jenkins-Onyx, Ashley-Phoenix, Garrus-Agent, Wrex-Mercenary, Tali-Hydra, Liara-Gladiator. All armor is light except for Ashley and Wrex (medium) and if Shepard is a soldier (medium.) Thanks to nocturne89 (BioWare forums)

I always wait until I become a Spectre before I start equipping better armor even if I have it in my inventory.

My way of making it official and rewarding myself I suppose lol. Besides I am just an alliance marine before I become a spectre. So might as well look the part than once I become a spectre time to upgrade the armor.
