Looking for similar game
Ok, my granddaugters (11,9 & 5) pulld 1k on this game and they liked it.  Its not my gig but...are there other kid safe games like SingIt?  I looked at Lips but it has a T (teen) rating and I suspect its because of the songs/lyrics.

Can anyone recommend a game like SingIt that is kid safe and fun for pre-teen aged girls?

Re: Looking for similar game
I've read the descriptions for some of the Hannah Montana games (which it seems could be appealing to their ages, and meet what you're asking for), and I came up with this: http://www.xbox.com/en-US/games/h/hannahmontana/ (It's evidently music-related, but doesn't actually allow you to sing.) I can't think of any others at the moment that meet the criteria that you've set, though. There doesn't seem to be too much of a shortage of games in which you can sing (the Rock Band series as well as the newer Guitar Hero games both come to mind), but many of those games are rated T, unfortunately. My only recommendation would be to, if you're comfortable with it, of course, look at some of the T-rated games (and I can see that you've already played Guitar Hero 5, and The Beatles: Rock Band) and first check the songs and find which ones you are comfortable with allowing your grandchildren to play, if you haven't done so already. Hope you find what you're looking for!

Re: Looking for similar game
Thanks for the comeback...

Yes, I have GH5 and Beatles and the girls have played both as well as GH:Aerosmith and GH:LOR.  The 11yr old plays the guitar better than I do :)  I, of course, limited what songs they see the lyrics to but some of the songs you can't tell what they are saying so I let em play them on the drums/guitar.

And, yes, they are wanting the sing along type keroke game.

Unfortunately, XB360 has a serious lack of games for <10yr olds and very limited number for pre-teens. PS2 has hundreds for this age group but XB has just a handfull.  I just don't understand why MS refuses to cater to a very profitable age group.

I know you're cautious of the T rating but why not just give Lips a try? What's the worst that can happen?

Re: Looking for similar game
Well, first is the obvious implications of the T rating with lyrics you have to SING.  If they hear something now and then, I am less worried than if they actually have to say it let alone sing it.  Big difference.  Second is the fact you need to buy the full game with mics to get started from what I understand about the game.  I have 2 usb mics (one from Disney SingIt and one from Beatles) so I would have prefered being able to use the normal mics and grab Lips used from gamestop and give it an honest try but they don't have a used version with mics and I am not sure I want used mics anyway :)

Lastly, I dislike (no, let me be honest, I HATE rap/hiphop and before you label me a racist let me say I HATE country as well which has caused many issues with my mom being from Texas) and from what I have have seen Lips contains music (and I use the term very loosely) by Lil Mama, Lupe Fiasco, Young MC and Rascal Flatts and frankly, I don't want to listen to them let alone allow the girls to sing them.  The girls like the achievements.  I didn't see any achievements that require you to sing every song so that, at least, leaves the door open.

Now if I could just get the game used w/o mics and be able to play it then I might give it a go.  To "try" a game I really don't want to drop half a C-note to do it and its not fair to Gamestop to return a game that has hardware like mics either.  I have been asking around to see if friends have it but none do so borrowing a copy isn't possuble atm.

Is there indeed a patch for Lips to let it use standard USB mics like there are patches for other games to allow them to use the lips mics?
