I'm behind in MM.  Guy just stopped interesting me after his original trilogy of albums.  Coke can make ya stupid.  Now that Twiggy's back have they put out a new album yet?

I did like MA...that was the 2nd album of the trilogy.  Mobscene & Eat me, Drink me were when things went to shat for me.  I just didn't like the music..the sound of it.  The lyrics were depressing as usual but the sound sucked.  Hope Twiggy isn't too effed up to make good music again.

Never heard of Alter Bridge.  I need to get me some new fiber headies cuz my hearing is getting worse with age....I gotta turn things up like really loud nowadays it sux.  I just went to marilynmanson.com and the site looks all artsy and looks like I missed his 2 dates in Texas in September.  There wasn't one in Houston though.  I've seen him 3 times though but all 3 times were in Kansas.  I remember shouting Ginger Fish!!!! at the drummer and he smiled at me hee hee.

Did you shout that to Ginger Fish or their touring drummer Chris Vrenna?

Not monstrously off-topic but:

The thought of someone reciting the lyrics to Crypt Orchid in a Brummie accent makes me chuckle:
"Each toim oi moyk moy muvva croi an oingel doys an falls frum hevvvvuuuuuuunnnn..."

Antichrist and Animals were awesome albums, everything else since then (and prior lol) has been pants, IMO.

Grotesque had a couple of decent tunes on it (and a handful of superb riffs) but it just didn't work as an album for me. Same goes for Holy Wood. Both seemed really over produced and didn't have the raw edge of Antichrist or drug influenced flair of Animals.

I gave up after Grotesque. The only rock* (or even lyric based music for that matter) I'll listen to now is NIN. Even Reznor is starting to bore me...

*term used very loosely.

Yeah I can't get into any of NIN's new stuff either.  But I can't blame them cuz how varied and creative can you get when you're constantly singing about depressing crap? LOL

Re: December 13th - Birmingham Accademy
Year Zero wasn't bad, at least he had something other than himself to get angry about. Spiral is one of my favourite albums of all time and Fragile is brilliant, though I suspect I only really still value these albums for nostalgic reasons - they were around when I was going through the ol' difficult teenage years hence my attachment to them.

Everything since then has been pretty guff though... the only music I've paid for recently is the stuff on Warp records and other music of that ilk- weird electronica without lyrics. I'd rather have colours, textures, sensations, and soundscapes than the same old boring lyrics, and the same old boring instruments played in the same boring old ways.

There hasn't been an original 'song' written in years and the music industry is in absolute tatters. Music these days is seen as a disposable commodity more suited to elevators and nausea inducing clubs rather than something immersive - something that commands your full attention.

Maybe I'm just getting old and close-minded?

Ha ha man I feel the exact same way you do.  I keep thinking it's age but the more I TRY to listen to something new it just doesn't jump out at me the way songs did in the 90's.  I honestly think artists were more creative back then...and I wonder if it's just the internet and just too much information out there that creates a very uninspiring period from which artists can aspire from.

I do think that being young and easily influenced and wide-eyed played some part to it, and first discovering pot as well...but I just can't help but feel like I had a better palette of artists to choose from then than I do today.  I guess the next best thing to do is try to create your own music.

I've even tried the 'create your own music' malarky myself while playing with keys, stringed instruments and sequencing software. Eventually I got to the point where I realised that no matter how good I got (which was never very good BTW) the chance of me making anything remotely interesting or original was non-existent.

Take my housemate for example. He is an absolute MAESTRO when it comes to playing guitar - he's incredibly skilled and treats the instrument as an extension of his own body. Can I bear to listen to him play?

No. I've heard it all before.

I love MM but I think I'd look out of place going there now... but it's so close. It's tempting but I feel I'll get slapped up by goths... I used to dress in black clothes and leather jackets, but now I dress like your typical clubbing guy.. I'd look out of place and would probs get jumped in the mosh pit. :(

I still have my leather jacket. I might just wear it and make myself look like I used to :)

To be honest, just a black shirt with jeans would probably go down a treat, I don't dress goth either...but I might turn up with like a Spice Girls shirt (no I don't own one) and just judge the goth reaction lol.

I might just wear my usual wear. Henley tshirt, Henley belt, chavvy jeans and KSwiss trainers. ;) At least I'd be enjoying the music, that's all that matters.

I don't think I own almost any chav like wear, I did have a Hacket coat but I sold it on ebay for like £120. I guess I will probably wear just black top with jeans and my white DC's lol.
