Re: Out on Pal

I emailed bongfish, they said an announcement would follow, that was about 2 weeks ago, i think, so hopefully now there's a release date a European release will follow. Apart from that the game looks fantastic, the dynamic weather sytem coupled with the fact that you can take control of a helicopter to scope out the runs on the slopes what more do you need, fingers crossed the basics are under control and the game will be a winner.

Re: Out on Pal
Ummm, all consoles are region locked. So a PAL game won't work with a NTSC console. Although, their is region free games, check play asia for them.

I don't think it's a good idea talking about modding on the official forums. Yes I know what you mean, but just be SHHH about it Stick out tongue [:P]

As for the game release on PAL... We just gotta wait.

yeah, fair call there. I won't actually mod the box (I do want to keep a full warranty!), its more of an empty threat lol to show developers that this is the reason why people would......ahhhh, if only it were region free!

this may take a bit of reading and it's kinda back to front in email style Banjo, I understand your frustration, but at this time all I can say is that we're working on it. Cheers, -- Jason Clark Destineer Studios Banjo Vogt wrote: hi jason, thanks for the reply. are you able to say why there is no release date yet? is it a programming issue with the conversion to PAL? or a distribution thing? the getting stoked blog is being checked all the time, but no-one is updating it to let the world know what is actually going on. thanks for your time. banjo On 05/05/2009, at 1:43 AM, Destineer Studios Support wrote: Banjo, We currently do not have a scheduled release date for Stoked in Europe. Re: Out on Pal
Bongfish are working on localisation for a PAL release as per their forum but unfortunately neither Bongfish or Destineer, their publisher, are very good at keeping us up to date. I'm afraid it's just wait and see. The US version is region locked btw.

Re: Out on Pal
Finally have PAL versions and then they go and release the "Big Air Edition" with more mountains and multiplayer.

Once again, no mention of a PAL release, just the $39 n US release date in Nov.

Common Destineer, keep the fans who arn't yanks informed !!

I share your pain. It's almost like they don't want people to buy their game. Announcing an updated version of your game being released literally days before the originals PAL release is marketing suicide! BIG FAIL!!!

Re: Out on Pal
I completely agree, this doesn't make sense. Is there any chance the PAL version includes these updates already? If not then having waited patiently for a PAL version people will surely be prepared to wait a little longer and see whether any PAL 'Big Air' version will be available as DLC or as another release entirely. Which could reduce sales of the first version, which could influence the commercial decision as to how PAL updates/sequels are handled etc?!? Until this is clarified buying this now feels pointless, like buying a FIFA game at full price in September.

I AGREE with everyone ok! It does not seem right or fair, but fact is, they are really re-launching the game they way it should have been done. If you don't play original Stoked your not going to see how much better Big Air is when you get that. And yes you will have to wait, but I'm making a promise to all the PAL gamers. (listen up Malcot) After Nov 24th has come,. I am getting all over their, meaning Destineer's case about getting a tentative PAL date announced as quickly as possible.

FOR NOW, buy the game and enjoy it. There are many who don't feel disdained once they get into the game and is the best there is out now, if you need a boarding fix. Don't deny yourself a great grame that Stoked is. So buy it, and you have my word after Nov 24th has passed I am going to press to get that PAL date out. Its the best thing I can even offer to do

Re: Out on Pal
So I should buy the original to appreciate how much better Big Air is when I buy that as well? I'm all for supporting independent devs/publishers but that seems a little extreme. Especially during a hectic Autumn release schedule. Heightened expectations maybe but as both a snowboarder and gamer my interest was initially raised last(!) snow season when Stoked press releases were being issued throughout the entire European snowboard media and to be honest I'll happily wait another one until the consensus says I'm buying a game 'the way it should have been done'. It's just disappointing for the title because the snowboarding community would embrace Stoked for its realistic treatment of the sport; and the timing was also right in the gaming community to follow-up on momentum created by Skate 2. I understand business and feel for the developers but to now be announcing a new product whilst launching the PAL version will only be viewed as tactless by most. Or maybe they could just issue the NTSC Big Air region-free? For now though I'll just buy something else.

Re: Out on Pal
^^^ Spot on Marcel. Rebel, you cannot seriously expect people to buy a game now and then buy the same game a few months down the line that has been tweaked and had a couple of mouuntains added? If anything it should be an update and free DLC to exsisting Stoked players. The publishers have absolutley no idea (or don't care) about marketing or what is known as customer relationship managment. People will just abandon the company and feel cheated.
