I love worms, really fun and easy pick up and play style. My question is

Why cant I play the Game I paid 800 points for without being connected to XBL ! Like wtf is says

"Play Trial Game" and my favourite "Unlock Full Game!!" This is unacceptable, it is bad enough that you cant put your hard drive into a friends xbox and play your own Arcade games, but not being able to play one of your best XBLA games because you are not online is beyond stupid.

Sort it out Team 17 or whoever can patch the dam thing!!!

This is not related to worms specificly but to every XBLA game, when you buy something from marketplace it registers at you're gamertag and your console. So when you use it at your friends house and you aren't connected to xbox live it doesn't know you purchased it.

This has been a great issue for everyone that bought XBLA games and their console broke sometime after and was replaced with another one.

But the funny thing is, it wont allow me to play it offline on my own xbox !

I do notice though that when my profile is signed in and Offline that the theme is different than what it is when I am connected to live. When I am connected I can play all my XBLA titles , but when not  only 3 out of my 14 owned tiltes will play !?

I noticed this when I took my Xbox to a friend's house a couple of weeks ago. It's going to be a real bum when I don't have the internet next year. This is now a serious concern for me. I currently have more XBLA games than disc games. I prefer them because I can get a game for less than a tenner. Outside of the arcade, I'm looking at King Kong or Fifa 06 as the two games that can be bought this cheap. I don't want either of these games.

I hope I can enjoy the £30-£50 worth of games I have already paid for and fully expect to be able to play when I don't have the internet.

If it's just the 360 that broke all you'd have to do is use the same Hard drive with your profile on it and you'll be able to download games you've downloaded in the past for free. You can also recover you profile on another 360 and download them for free aswell. but you would of had to deleted it off your old hard drive I think.

Well that happens because you purchased it on another Xbox 360. So when you try to play Worms which you bought on another Xbox 360, trying to play it on your Xbox 360 won't work unless you're online. Because being online is the only other way it can recognize that it is, indeed the purchaser of the game.

This is for security reasons, say somebody stole your HDD they can't play your games and it also prevents people from copying the files.

This isn't a problem, this was intentionally done by Microsoft to prevent piracy and theft.

That would be ok if I actually did buy them on another 360, but I bought them on my own machine !

I had to send back my 360 for the 3 red lights and I checked the serial code when it came back and it was the same. So unless something was changed inside the shell that makes it different..

i guess i'll help  with this one :) i had to deal with this problem 3 times already.

my brother and i both use my 360 (4th one btw) to buy arcade games. games i buy we both can play and vice versa. ones the system breaks and i get a new one (i don't bother with MS i just get the store to honor my 2 yr warranty) and put my original harddrive in. once this is done i can no longer play games my brother bought from xbla and he can't play games i bought, whether connected to xbl or not. this is because purchased items are tied to your gamertag AND the console you purchased the game on.

also, i can't play my games if im not connected to xbl.

so the process goes as follows (there's no other way sorry)

- call 1-800-4-MY-XBOX. (xbox support)
- explain your situation exactly as it is to the rep (hang up and call again until you get someone that you can understand. it's what i do)
- after they verify they will give you a reference number and tell you that you will need to fax in various information pertaining to the situation. in my case it was my receipt from the store that had EXCHANGE written on it to prove i had the console exchanged for a new one. it shouldn't be hard to convince the rep, the first time it took me nearly an hour, the third it took 5 minutes. MS is well aware of this problem and so are their service reps.
- after this is all done you will get a call within 3 days of faxing the requested items (if not then you call back).
- after the 3 days and some more talking to a rep they will inform you that a Supervisor will call you back within 3 days to 2 wks (two weeks all 3 times in my case).
- the supervisor will give you point codes depending on what you bought and how many points it all was. since i have two accounts on my xbox the supervisor told me to redeem them to a new SILVER account so both accounts could play the games with no hassles. if you have only ONE account on your system the supervisor will tell you the same thing. ultimately it's your choice how you redeem your points after getting the codes.

sorry, forgot to mention. the refunded points are so you can buy the same games over again so you can play them offline.

I can play allmy arcade games signed out of xbox live. im still signed into my live profile, but im not on live.

I bouhgt 9 arcade games before mine broke down and now I can't play them when my network goes down. It's an issue that is preventing me from buying new games from live arcade because I tend to play full games like Gow when I have net and play the arcade games when I can't get online. Or at least that was the case before mine broke. I hope they fix it some day soon so I can pick up some new stuff.
