Firstly, I'm really enjoying this game, but it's a *** to figure out from scratch. I'm using the online wiki to try and figure it out, but it's near worthless unless you know what you're looking at, but it has helped. I'm trying not to stress too much and just play the game. I'd like to get a good feel of it so I can go back and play it again sometime, after DA:O. Regardless, I think I'm doing ok.
First of all: Know this! I'm playing the PC version--no Leader limit.
Primer: I've just completed the Events at Nagapur quest and am doing all the sidequests before going further. I'm BR 40, use Rush, Baulson, McGrady, Oakes, and Emmy (Union 1), David, Blocter, Torgal, Glenys, and Pagus (Union 2), and Nora, Caedmon, Violet, Loki, and Gabriel (Union 3). McGrady is actually a good clucth guy, but Oakes sucks (placeholder). I'm trying to get more leaders.
Questions. Please discuss. Answer 1, 2, all, whatever.
I feel they are kind of weak. I'm only doing on average 5-8K dmg per union per turn. I have hit around 30K+ a couple of times before, usually in boss battles--the longer the battle, the more they pour it on. Is this about right? I feel they should be stronger. I try to get their requested items. Should I try harder? I've figured out their physical vs. mystic paths and have set them out on the right ones. Does it just take time to learn the skills for more damage? At this point in the game, I'm rolling over most everything with ease; could be my strategy pulling me through though.
Who should be heading up unions? I'm using 3 unions headed up by Rush, David (Gae Bolg), and Nora (she's really whipping butt with that big hammer of hers). I'd like to add another union soon, and how about a fifth choice for later?
I really like physical over mystic, but I get the impression that mystic will come into its own later. Should I be making more of an effort in upgrading mystic skills or wait until later/other leaders? Spark III and Windshear kind of suck.
Where the heck do I find the base quests/battles?
Talk to me about formations! I'm using Arrow of Anthlum III for all unions. Seems to work well. I can see where some might come in handy later on, but I've really no clue how to utilize them effectively.
What should I generally be doing/focusing on "disk 1"?
And finally (for now), since the PC version has unlimited leaders, Suggest your dream unions!
