It has to be copied from another person who has a 256. If you see them select or even have a 256 in their roster, just kick them or leave the game. Just play with ppl who don't use or even have 256 in their roster.

I thought there was another way of doing it, something to do with exiting the game when other people are in it- something along those lines.

They have to do it via the barbarian boss for you to get infected. But who knows, for all we know, it could probably be doable on other bosses but why take the chance of playing with them? That -1XP is stuck with your gamertag forever if you get it.
