Recent Update killed non MS memory cards?
I saw a blog that said it was coming and sure enough today my MAX memory 4 GB card is not recognized..

The card works in my older non updated xbox, so I am pretty sure its the update.

If you are one of the people whose game saves and downloads are on a clearly superioir piece of hard ware that you bought at the local BestBuy and have just been screwed by Microsoft, let them know.

Call Support and badger them for at least 45 minutes to an hour to help you remove the update, get your card working, or just for giggles.

Re: Recent Update killed non MS memory cards?
I read the blog posts when they went up, but didn't the major said this would happen with the NOVEMBER update that would add the new features?

I am FURIOUS about this. I'm not one of those people that spells MS with a dollar sign, but this has me really ticked off. I love my Datel 4GB memory card.  It's bad enough that even though I pay a monthly fee for a Gold membership, my dashboard is littered with advertisements that aren't even for gaming products (but hey, who doesn't want a McDonalds Double Cheeseburger dashboard theme, right?), but now I can't use the memory card that I bought for perfectly legit reasons. The reason people are paying good money for them is because they fill a hole microsoft refuses to. Microsoft's prices are RIDICULOUS for memory. $30 for 512MB? These days I can get a thumb drive with four times that much space. With my Datel card, I can save my profile, Avatar items, theme, and all of my game saves on my card, so that when I go to a friend's house, all I have to do is plug it in and I've got virtualy everything I need to play my game.

You think this is going to stop pirates? Don't make me laugh! They'll have a work around for this within a week. The only people who are going to suffer are the legitimate customers, many of whom, in this case, are willing to pay for larger 1st part memory cards, but are relying on third party equipment because MS won't make their own. You think I wouldn't prefer a 1st part card? Of course I would, but if Microsoft won't make one, I should be able to go with someone else. In fact, even if Microsoft DOES make one, I should be able to go with someone else. This whole "unauthorized" devices thing is ridiculous. I paid three hundred bucks for my console. It's mine. Wy do I need someone else's authorization to use a peripheral? I have defended Microsoft for YEARS, but this whole thing makes me sick.
You did NOT "get hacked." Either you fell for a phishing scam, or your password was too obvious. Stop using your dog's name.

Re: Recent Update killed non MS memory cards?
This is Bull****, what the heck is going on here.  I can't believe they forced us to update our systems and now my MU is not working anymore.  I tried to transfer my files on my other xBox360 and it forces me to sign-on, so I did still not knowing what was going on because I didn't receive a notification about what this update will do with my MU.

Now I lost all of my hours and days of my games, this really f***ing pisses me off.  It's bad enough that they make a crappy system that I had to replace 6 times because of Red Ring of Death and if shake it a little while moving your console to a new location it stops working.  All together I have purchased 1 regular xbox360 and 5 Elite's.  I have wasted of THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS on this crappy material box and now they regulate us from using a 3rd party Memory MAX 4GB.

I was just about to sale my PS3 and Nintendo WII because I don't use it much....haha, f*** that... I think I wont be using my xbox360 no more, plus NETFLIX is going to be working with PS3 in a couple of months so I really have no reason to use this monopolize Microsoft company anymore.

Sony PS3 should do a commercial like how MAC and PC commercial and have PS3 poke fun on how lame Microsoft Xbox360 is and not pratical.

BTW - NEXT TIME YOU SEND AN UPDATE LIKE THIS, POST IT TO OUR NOTIFICATION ON XBOX LIKE YOU DID WHEN THE NEW USER INTERFACE CAME OUT... I HAD TO GOOGLE THIS PROBLEM AFTER IT HAPPEN AND HAD NO CLUE WHAT HAPPENED TO MY XBOX.

Thanks for keeping us up to date xbox, do you expect everyone to follow you and twitter you Major Nelson... I do have a life and I would have rather received a notification through email or xbox message notification and not have to research to find out what is going on.  That was really bad on Microsoft's part.

Cleary you are wrong! I do not work for MS.  Nor do I kiss MS butt.  You need to get your head out of yours.  If you read my posts in the Majornelson site you see I was totally against it.  I own one of those Datel cards that no longer work.  I was just helping the poster find other threads to post in but you are too busy being a ridiculous one yourself.  If read any of my posts in these threads I never sided with MS.   Look at my post on page 20.   If you have time you can read thru all 20 and see my other posts.   On that last link I have a post on page 2 you can read.  I have 4 posts total in that thread so far.

for those who dont know Datel knows this is and are trying to see if they can make a newer memory card that works with the update and will start trading in older memory cards for newer ones for free. never used one but its nice you can add more gbs without a hdd.
