Re: anyone in auckland have a transfer kit
Yup :) it's ALOT quieter than my (very) old one, runs cooler and even gets to the dashboard quicker from start-up.
Looks far sexier too...
Only downfall is not having the Facebook/Twitter update preview anymore.
...oh and not being able to use the HD as I need the space, but I rang MSsupport today and am waiting for a call-back, pretty confident they'll see me right...

Had a near-miss this morning though:
I'd decided I wanted to take good care of this console so I made a platform to raise it for better ventilation and found an unused black pillow-case which I then dubbed my ' inactive console-cover-rer '.
Used said cover lastnight after some MW2 action....
Got up this morning and my Mrs and 2yr old son Luke were already up...
My partner says- "Luke pulled your pillowcase off this morning, I put it back on."
I say- "Thanks honey, but for future reference it's now called a "Console-Protector"... :)
10mins later I randomly decide to get the console serial number from it to give to MSsupport later in the day...

...It'd been turned ON the whole time :o

Lukily it hadn't been on long and there wasn't anything in the tray so it barely got warm, scared me abit though :-s

Yup much quieter.
Scary near miss though, ive accidently had it on all night once, as my wireless controller must of been activated by someone when it was on the couch...

I just rang MS again as I hadn't had a reply.
They told me that a Transfer Kit for the 250gb HD is still being made and i'll have to wait until it's developed...

Strange.. I just called up and asked for one.. just had to pay for postage. The existing one works fine for 60, 120 and 250 gig drives.

Re: anyone in auckland have a transfer kit
There are at least two versions of the transfer software.  The original version that came out when the 120 Gb drive was released in NZ (v1) won't work with the 250 Gb HDD that comes with the MW2 LE console.  Versions that came out later (in the last couple of years), like the one that came with the 60 Gb bundle (v2) will work with the 250 Gb HDD.

I expect there has been quite a high demand for transfer kits in the past few days.  Support should be able to help, just make it clear that you want to order a "data transfer kit" and keep in mind that they may have to back order one for you.

Re: anyone in auckland have a transfer kit
Since I have the working software (I have done the 60 - 250 transfer). Could I make an ISO and offer it up to download? Would that be ok with MS Xtramalt? Edit: Though I am not sure if this disk is copy protected like a game is...

I understand your intentions are good, but I can't see Microsoft being happy with a downloadable ISO.  I don't know about copy protection, but the software is definately copy-righted.

I called MS the day I got my new MW2 kit (coz you need both your original + new seriel numbers). Was advised should be up to 7 days - doesn't seem to be any delays etc from their end.

When it arrives i will try it out... but otherwise i will ring MS. Is the MW2 transfer kit free like the original elite ones or does it cost?
I have to figure out soon as im going to sell my old xbox360...

Also- i already did a license transfer and profile recovery to my new harddrive before any files have been transfered.. is this okay-im not going to run into any issues doing it this way right?

Neither of the tele-ops I talked to mentioned a price so I don't think it costs...
When you do the transfer ALL info that was previously on the NEW HD will be deleted and replaced with the content from the OLD HD....not much of an issue if it's just your profile you have saved...just don't go saving games.
I'm continuing to use my 60GB so I don't lose anything, it's a pain in the bum removing and replacing content constantly thoughSad [:(]
