Comparing games, "IS NOT", pointless. It's smart. By comparing games, game developers find out what the other game developer has that works that they don't.
Your statements might be true if everyone but advertisers didn't ignore fanboys. Maybe 5%, MAYBE, comes from jibberish on the internet. But companies with budgets as big as these games have things called "focus groups", "play-testers", and the like and get their information in controlled, thought-out ways... not from trolls and fanboys.
