New Operation Flashpoint in 2010
Here's the article.

I'm not sure how I feel about this one...

On one hand, I'm laughing at the naysayers on these forums who would have you believe that OFP:DR was a financial disaster for Codemasters and that clearly wasn't the case. Stick out tongue [:P]

On the other hand, I have more concerns that OFP:DR will not be supported as well as we've been told and all of the fixes, requests, etc will make their way into an entirely new game that we will all have to buy next year. Sad [:(]

Im kinda with you on this one Neech....dont know how I really feel about it either.  Then again this is the same way I felt about L4D2 coming out a year after the first, but from the looks of L4D2 it looks quite amazing.

Unless it has a LOT of features i will definately not be getting it. I really enjoy this game but it's hard to ignore that this game has very few features and was not fit for release. I will get it if it is a good solid game with a variety of features, even then i will not be pre-ordering it like i did with this one.

Very true and Valve has continued to support the original L4D...

which I why Im fine with Valve releasing a new L4D a year later. They continue support on their games and can really make a solid game in little as 1 year. Their games are some of the best I've played so I'm never let down with them. With CM, as much as I love DR, Im not too entirely sure about a follow up a year later unless they can implement a lot of features into it that they didnt put in this one. I guess all we can do is wait and see what happens, really no point in judging yet.

Im not sure how I feel about an OF:DR 2 coming out so soon.  Im not gonna flame the game here, I thought parts of it were fun, but overall it is an incomplete game.  I will not support Codemasters if they do not address the serious issues that have been present with their current release.

Im sure they will, but Im not so sure a patch is what is needed to correct these issues

Dragon Rising was far from complete and it leaves me dumbfounded that this took 8+ years to make and to only have 11 missions, 4 MP maps, and no mission editor is just ridiculous.  This isn't flashpoint but it's a good game reguardless.

Im done with it to be honest.  Just traded it in.  Seems like Codemasters and gamestop were in on it together.  $60 for a buggy game, $18 for trade in.  CM/GS win, we lose.

If this game was in development for a bit longer, and the pressing issues were addressed, this game would have been fantastic.

Yeah I'm kind of into the conspiracy theory idea from the above poster lol..

However, I'm enjoying the crap out of Borderlands, makes up so much for Operation Failpoint: Bugs Rising.

Oh and it was patched in less than a week for some issues..

Yeah borderlands looks amazing.  Once I get 1000 GS in DR I'm not coming back.  This was the biggest disappointment in my gaming career ever.

The Coop makes it, you can invite your friends into the game at any time from the pause menu. Sorry to go on about it, but it will really make you feel better after OFDR, or it helped me get over it at least.

Yea. Its not a bad game, the final product just seems rushed and incomplete. Borderlands, on the other hand, while not perfect, provided me with hours upon hours of entertainment (still is). I would not hesitate to give that game a 9.5/10. I had lots of fun playing OF;DR with friends, but there were just too many random bugs and glitches that took the fun away. Now that there is talk of a sequel, it reminds me of what Microsoft did with Vista. "Hey, we put out a crap OS, but next year, Windows 7 will be out, and its gonna be better!"

This seems to be exactly what happened. They honestly think I'm gonna shell out another 60 bucks when they just stole 60 bucks from me? Yeah, okay, we'll see about that. These jokers better hope I never run into them in some bar, or find out where they live, because then I'm gonna take my 60 bucks back in any way that pleases me; I'm gonna get seriously medievel. It's amazing what someone will do/tell you when you're ripping their fingernails out with needle-nose pliers.

I think we've been had . This announcement (if it comes true) makes it feel like Codemasters rushed out OF:DR as a stop gap / platform for the "sequel". I have a feeling that the "sequel" is what the original is supposed to be (if that makes sense) . Anyway, we'll see. Hopefully , CM won't bleed us for DLC that should have been in the original

They worked on Dragon Rising for 4 years and look how broke and unfinished it is, does anyone honestly think they can release a decent sequel with only a year to work on it?

Short answer is they cannot.  The only way a game can be released one year after a pathetic, incomplete game is because they were working on it alongside of OF:DR.  And if  thats the case, shame on them for thinking an incomplete, bug filled game would satisfy the people up who were looking forward to it.

I was so worried I was going to get flamed over my post, but I'm glad most people agree. I was so sorely disappointed with OF:DR, I really really wanted to 'believe' it was good and I tried to enjoy it.

If your right, it really does make me sick how game company's think they can get away with this.  La saiz ferr(Don't know how to spell it, sorry) shouldn't be totally universal in business.  Look how easy game companies rip hardworking people off world wide.

You've got that backwards.  EA became the new Codemasters.

Back when Trip Hawkins was at the helm, Electronic Arts was one of the most well respected and innovative publishers in the video game industry.

Silly kids.

More like three...and it was rushed out the door before the release of MW2.

I spoke with two devs from Codemasters at an industry party three weeks ago.  What you're getting is going to an expansion pack rebadged as sequel.  This shouldn't be a surprise to anyone considering how they claimed Dragon Rising was a sequel to Operation Flashpoint.

bwuah??!?

they need to finish this game before they think about any type of sequel deal

on that note... somehow my original thread (the one locked here) over on the CM forums resurfaced as the #1 non-stickied thread over there... and there's over 20 pages of people praising my original post or simply discussing it without any input from myself (seeing as i was banned)

lol

Wow bringing out a game in 2010 they are screwed up. They said support for this would continue for some time, they have failed to provide a patch to fix the first game and now they are basically saying they wont support this game as much as they said they was going to.

Codemasters are scum theyve lost my support with future releases if they do not sort this one out before they release anymore. My game just sits at the back of me pile and im ashamed to own it at the mo until it getsfixed when ever that will be i dont know.
