DLC age restriction glitch
I called Xbox a few years ago about this and they said they couldn't do anything about it, but I can't stand it anymore. All of my Family Settings are set to allow everything, all rated content, and my Windows Live ID is a 21 year old account. WHY CAN'T I DOWNLOAD ANYTHING RATED M AND SOMETIMES EVEN T!!??!?!?

This happens to me, too. But I'm not over 18.

Can I remove the child block? My parents don't mind me playing M games, and I've reset everything to allow all content. It's REALLY bugging me.

I'm not 18 yet, but my mother doesn't care if I play M games. I can't promote it to an adult yet. I want to know how to fix the problem I described in my first post.

There is no fixing it, until you turn 18. ESRB rules forbid advertisements to minors & demos are considered ads. What your parents allow has no bearing in this situation, MS must follow the rules regardless of what anyone thinks.

If you are over 18 then make a new email address with your correct age. Then make a new XBL account with that email. That account can then be the 1 that you use to download M rated content off the XBL marketplace.

Re: DLC age restriction glitch
that is true... however it does help with content that is not Gold only, which correct me if I'm wrong but left 4 dead 2 is not. At the very least he would be able to download any M rated content that is available to Silver members. Also almost everything that is available for download for Gold members is available for Silver members after about a week or so.

It will be available to everyone in about a week right? Not just people with codes? Cause I really want to get this game, not only b/c I have wanted it for a while now but also b/c it has avatar awards and I want to see how those work exactly.

IF you are 18 years of age then you just follow the steps in the link below:

Promoting Your Account

IF you are under 18 years of age then you need to read the following to understand why you are not able to access adult content:

Impatiently Waiting to Grow Up

You are full of BS. ESRB rules are that minors cannot buy M rated content, without adult permission. However, apparently MS doesn't care if your parent lets you or not. Technically, someone could be able to sue MS for NOT allowing someone to download "M" Rated content with adult permission, because they are then false advertising what a subscription gets you. Furthermore, there needs to be an option to allow the downloading of demos. So far, i think DLC however does NOT have a restriction, becuase if you are downloading extra content, more than likely you already own the game.

Re: DLC age restriction glitch

Seriously...  """ Technically, someone could be able to sue MS for NOT allowing someone to download "M" Rated content with adult permission, because they are then false advertising what a subscription gets you. """"  Seriously ???  Lets see a link to what someone would use to back this arguement up.

If anyone has any questions about esrb all you need to do is read this:  http://www.majornelson.com/archive/2007/12/26/demos-trailers-and-you.aspx
then go to the esrb.com website and read their information there.  In particular this page:  http://www.esrb.org/ratings/enforcement.jsp

Between those you should have a complete understanding of the why/how and what of ESRB.

If Microsoft didn't follow the esrb...  The fact is, instead of this thread we would see one just like it but from parents saying "why WAS my child able to download this adult content...".  I don't envy the position they are in, simplay can't win.  Your going to go against one or the other...

So you can't download M rated content...  Either move on or create a new, free - adult profile (silver).  Done.
