How to Drift?
I'm sure I'm doing it like quite a few other people out there but exactly how do you drift? What angles do you take the corners at, speed? Do you use manual with clutch and whats the technique to that? See, I just go into a corner and use the hand brake but truthfully I really do not know what I am doing. And what assists do I have on and which do I have off? Thanks.

Yeah, definitely. I'm not going into depth here but: You generally want to approach corners at higher speeds, pull the e brake just enough to get sideways then hammer on the gas and control the slide with throttle control and counter-steering. Its easy as that. Oh and practice practice PRACTICE!

Re: How to Drift?
driving technique is only half the act, you need to upgrade and tune accordingly.  Myself, i have yet to sit down and attempt at building a drift car, but i can tell u for sure, their tuning setups differ greatly from your regular grip or missle car.

remember, cars arnt about power, its about balance, especially with drifting

Buy a rear wheel driven car, take it into a curve an an excessive speed and turn the weight force to the rear. counter steer your front wheels in the direction of the curve and maintain control of car in the road direction. Also, look out for cops and wear a seat belt.

Re: How to Drift?
I seem to be doing ok in my RX-8. I'm only getting about 45k points on the whole Fuji track. So when you come out of a turn and your car spins out that means you gave it too much gas? And when your in the turn is it gas brake, gas brake, etc? Or do you just tap the gas, tap, tap, tap?

Yeah, there is definitely a lot of tapping, just as there is in real life. After the initial E-Brake pull you shouldn't need to pull any more brakes though. Then its a matter of tapping or easing on the throttle( depending how much Power you got) And about what that other guy said. It really is hard to drift a car that isn't tuned for it. I suggest buying a cheap s13, giving it a good amount of power. Then stiffen up the springs a lot, tweak the rebound, and tweak the toe a lot. When you say the car spins out I am assuming you mean you oversteered and lost that "held" angle. Yeah, that is generally too much gas.

I thought it was gonna be easy like NFS pro street but in this game it is challenging and i find using a powerful car and using manual shift and keep it in 2ND, I'm using a 97 skyline gtr R3 around 750hp....

It can be done in single player hotlap while using the rewind.

Re: How to Drift?
Yep, tuning is a must for good drifting, but even particular tunes for particular styles of drifting are needed.

For example I prefer to setup my cars so that I rarely have to touch the e-brake at all - I do this by modifying caster, toe and camber in much the same way you would on a real car to loosen up the back end, and also balance the car for understeer/oversteer during drift transitions.  From here I play with brake balance, power and torque to pretty much make the e-brake not needed for most drifts.

I am into Choku-dori style of drifting though, and this needs a pretty lose car with good transitional balance - people want different setup for what ever they are used to.

Ang. Re: How to Drift?
Lots of advice, but some not very good. You dont need more speed into corner, AWD drive is way easier than 2 wheel, set tire pressure with little in front(1,2-1,4) and more back(2,6-3,0). Stiffen up the rear as much as possible. This is all you need to get the 100k ach. Easier to take normal Fuji, not reverse, cause you get most of your points on the wide roads downhill to finishline. When turning in use/tap e-brake and apply throttle, not full but adjust during corner(dont need much speed). If you think car is spinning in end of corner, turn opposite direction give full throttle, and the better grip in front will straighten up the car(AWD).

Your advice is more how to drift for noobs to get an achievement. He is asking how to drift but I would say do RWD as it takes more skill but makes it more fun. And I never said you need more speed to drift, but any good drifter goes faster into the corners.
