Hello There Everyone,
First post on these forums. I'm completely stumped right now, so I was hoping somebody has the solution.
I am a Verizon DSL Customer, recently got a Westell 7500 Modem w/Integrated Router from them as a replacement for my old Westell 6100. My other, older router has broken down, so going back to it isn't an option (it's back from '99, had a long tour of duty as it is). But, no matter what I do, I cannot get Xbox Live to work. Everytime I test the connection, it's flipped back and forth between failing at the Network & Xbox Live stages. The errors it's given me are that it fails to get an IP address, or in the rare cases where it connects to the Network but fails at the Xbox Live Stage, it says my Router doesn't have the appropriate MTU Settings. Here's a rundown of what I've tried so far:
On the Xbox:
- Assigning Manual IP Address/DNS/PPoE settings for the Xbox
This just doesn't work, no matter what I fill in and in what combination.
Router Settings:
- Hooking up my old Modem (6100) and attempting to use the 7500 purely as a router. (Internet doesn't work, even though the Green Internet Light is flashing on the 6100).
- Assigning the Xbox 360 as a DMZ Host (can't connect to the Internet at all with this enabled).
- Assigning the Xbox to a Static NAT
- Enabling Public Lan/DHCP (Can't connect with Public LAN enabled).
- Enabling Port Forwarding for Xbox Live
- Turning off the Modem/Router Firewall
I have spent a couple of weeks bending over backwards trying to fix this problem. Searched the web, tried a number of solutions, nothing is working. A few people who had similar problems posted on the Verizon forum, those guys suggest taking it here. I have no idea whether it's the router, my Xbox, both? My computers are working perfectly, but my Xbox just won't connect. I see it in my Network on the Computers and on the Router Screen, it knows the Xbox is there. But somehow, I just can't get on Live. Can someone please point me in the right direction? Thanks so much for your time and consideration.
I suggest you do a "Factory Reset" on the router. Then just try enabling UPnP (Universal Plug and Play) on the router, nothing else. Make sure your Xbox has no manual entries, just automatic. See if that works.
Live long. Love life.
