I'm trying to purchase 1000 Microsoft Points online (I have also tried through the Xbox console) , I have a new Visa Card. I called my credit provider and they say I have plenty of credit on it, however when I try to buy the 1000 points this appears:
" Your credit card could not be authorized. Please contact your credit card provider, or enter a different credit card. "
I have purchases points before and had no other problems, what could be causing this and how could I fix this?

I get the same message: " Your credit card could not be authorized. Please contact your credit card provider, or enter a different credit card. "  I just upgraded my son's account to gold with my credit card and now it will not allow me to upgrade my account to gold with the same credit card (there is plenty of credit on the card).  Any suggestions would be appreciated.

SAme problem here mate I would love an answer.

Can I change my Gamertag for Free?

that happened to me a few times with my card but i eventually got it to work, i cant remember how. i have a different question tho does anyone know an email for microsft? for billing questions? we i paid for a 12 month subscription for 39.99 because it was a halo odst special it showed up on my billing statement that they charged me but now they are saying that there is a problem with my payment and they suspended my gold account...i cant even log on as a silver account. wtf? seriously? if anyone knows any numbers i can call having them would be great

Can I change my Gamertag for Free?

I have the same problem. Though it worked a couple of days ago.

My card is authorized for online purchases, and I can buy things with it, just not on the Xbox.
So I'm not sure, I ended up using another card and it worked fine though ;) Just my Visa wouldn't work.
Not sure if it's only a temporary problem or because my card was too new.

Best of luck to those who are having troubles also.

Well that's just f-ing fantastic. I've been having problems with this all afternoon,
and it would be great to be able to blame MSoft for the inconvenience of not being
able to buy any points. I mean, if they're aware of it, it's gonna get fixed, right?

Might just be a temporary problem with their system. Try it again in a few more days, i'm sure they have technicians looking into it already. I mean, it's basically money lost for them the longer this takes.

As I've said, I had that exact issue, although I was using a Pre-Paid Live card. Idk whether you're using Credit or pre-paid. I'm still unable to use the original credit card I had problems with (when I made this thread) to buy points or live. If you have another type of credit card I sujest you use that one instead, because it might take a while to fix the problems your having with the other.
