Over at GamersWishList.com, we have a Weekly Top Ten feature that we publish.  This week we tackled the Top 10 RPG's of all time.  Take a look:

In our continuing effort to count down everything video game releated, this week we bring you our Top Ten RPG's of All Time.

There are a lot of different genre's of video games out there. But the one that's always been closest to my own heart is the RPG. There's something about a game that sucks you in with a great story that makes a game more memorable for me. And below are some of our favorites here at GamersWishList.

But first, couple of notes:

You will see no MMORPG's on this list. This was not an oversight. In our opinion, the MMO subgenre has grown to the point that it's really developed into it's own genre of games worthy of it's own Top Ten List sometime in the future. As such, we decided to keep those games seperate of the more traditional RPG's on this list.

As always with the Weekly Top Ten, we've kept the list down to one entry per series. In a genre that's so sequel heavy, that has made some of these decsions very hard. And we know that a lot of great games got left on the cutting room floor. But the one entry per series rule still applies here.

That's a pretty competent list of RPGs. Nothing but strong titles there. Since there aren't that many RPG gems that I have played yet, my list is as follows:
10) Borderlands
9) Fable 2
8) Star Ocean: The Last Hope
7) Tales of Symphonia
6) Mass Effect
5) Demon's Souls
4) Phantasy Star Online: Episodes One and Two
3) Guild Wars (I know it's an MMO but I love it nonetheless)

1. FF7 (to me it was revolutionary as it was the first JRPG I played)

I've yet to play Tales of Vesperia, but with that exception, imo, Mass Effect is the ONLY game on next-gen consoles that has come close to the masterpieces that were these games. Not oblivion, not fable (..) and especially not Borderlands have even come close. Again, imo.

We actually posted this article in a number of different places, and this thread has been by far the most civil.  Although just looking at all of your lists is proof possitive that there's no way we could possibly please everyone by doing lists like these with the variety of tastes that we all have.  Thanks for coming by and checking it out!!

To be honest what you picked was a good list. RPG fans are probably the least abusive of the lot. If you posted a top 10 FPS list in the Halo forums and there was any other games on the list that wasn't in the Halo series you would have a flame war.

The thing with RPG's is there is so many different things than can draw you in. Some people play them as they like grinding EXP to create powerful characters with little story, there is the combat, the characters, the game world, the story. Some games like Oblivion haven't really pushed the boat out with the story but I liked it because I liked customising and developing the character. I loved Lost Odyssey for the characters ad excellent story. Some RPG's tick all boxes. Its all down to personal preference really and I guess the 'RPG community' understands that.

Unless you like Too Human. Then your a freak. That game was terrible.

Actually we did post a 10 ten FPS list on the Halo forums and the feedback was more civil than in some of the other RPG foums we posted in......lol.

LUNAR1 and 2 were the best RPGS ever in my opinion Chrono Trigger gets an honorable mention but the first two Lunar games were what RPGS are all about if you havent played em get yourself an emulator and download em or pay an arm and leg for em on ebay
