if i host a gta 4 game how does it tell other people that im inviting anyone to play with me? and if i want play with someone that is a host do i pick a host that i want or what? also this question also directs halo 3

When you host im not sure how it looks on GTA 4 but in halo you go into the matchmaking section equivalent to GTA 4's multiplayer section and then press the guide button and go across to friends and choose from the list who to invite. They will have the message appear across the bottom of their screen like an achivement does..

And when you want to play with a host you can join OPEN games from your friends list simply it will give you the choice to press x and or with Halo not sure about GTA but you search for games which have a randomly slected host. I think in GTA players choose to host a gmae (correct me if im wrong)

So yea simply all you need to do is guide button and invite and they will get his message instantly, if they dont join give a party invite or something.

ah a simpler question then.

In halo people do not join and host cannot invite people mid game, you must create a group before the game. Likewise with GTA i think.

It's called matchmaking.. the other person would receive your invite and join you if they wish or vice versa.  If you join someone else, they are party leader  -  If they accepted your invited, you are party leader.

In campaign, you of course open you xbox guide button go onto friends and can select to invite them. They will recive the message instanly and can drop in if they choose. does that help?

Still kinda confusing but there is no server list like on PC games, if that's what you mean. You have to invite someone into your campaign lobby.

Heres howit works. You can invite players through your guide button, or they can choose to join in a matchmaking lobby.
You can connect to hosts who are on your friedns list by joining game, however random hosts is a no no for choice. to join other hsots you matchmake then you will be put in a randomly selected game inwhich the host was chosen randomly. any closer to help?
