Before someone comments on saying some like "just put a picture as the bg" You dont understand i'm referring to the "Premium" style dash board (Color scheme is changed, and png images behind your friends avatars)
I'm not too sure if this has been discussed...or even talked about before...
But i'm a young digital artist, and animator. (well experience in both...and a dash of a Coder) And i always wanted to make a full "blown" custom Next gen dash board for my 360...In Anime/steam punkish style~ Though it bugs me that no such thing exist for the xbox360...Nor such mod exists for it...(unless i'm mistaken)
I just wish to make my xbox feel more...."Homely"
My opinion on this idea:
Is that, it doesn't have to be fully customizable where u can "change" how the entire screen and layout looks (IE: the whole dash board looks like the old school xbox dash board...just...for kicks)
But possible just being able to change the background, and add other stylish nic-nacs to their dash boards (png images behind friends list and etc)
I kinda of doubt Microsoft will do something like this "unless money is evolved"...in which...If i they did allow/make a app for people to create their on Custom (premium style) Dashboards...or give out "open source" codes for people to "tweak" with...They would lose profits because people are making their own "premium" style dash boards...Instead of buying the one's currently out. (But not many will buy them much anyway, unless they just want something "new)
Though...If profit is all that Microsoft is after (even if its a little in some kind of way...25-50 MS points) Why not create a extra group/category for themes...Like we have "indie" games...Games created by..."US" the users. the players, the gamers...
Why not create a group, where people can create and submit their own custom "Dashboard skins/backgrounds"
Or possibly throw another contest for a new type of dashboard. (Of course whats uploaded/entered into the contest/group is "original" work, not taken/cut works of someone else work/licensed work, rude, or offensive)
OR EVEN better, possibly expand on the idea, of letting people be able to fully customize their dash boards, both the xboxlive guide, menu, buttons, and possibly sounds? (just throwing idea's out my top hat...no i don't literally wear a top hat...but i do have a monocle...and love sipping tea...all fancy)
And to keep things to a minimum of course...(though, something like this, can be pulled off by experienced coders, and both artists) The staff can chose which one's are best, and make the winners/ones chosen available for download. (And even have sub categories: Hot/Popular, Users Pick, and etc)
People download, rate it, xbox live feels more comfortable for everyone who have their own "taste".
Dunnoe, its more of a "side" idea...But want to discuss this. Because i'm sure other people feel the same way (since most still find the dash boards/plain and annoying even with a skin...)
