Sorry if this has been asked before, but I heard a rumor that all current DLC will not be compatible with Rock Band 3 when it comes out.  Just the rumor alone makes me hesitant to continue to purchase any new DLC and I would be really upset with the hundreds of dollars I have already spent on my current DLC if it were not compatible with future versions.

I heard a rumor that the more DLC you buy in RB1/RB2 you'll receive rewards towards DLC for RB3 and it'll also transfer over.

I think this is just a rumor and a bad one at that.  If they did have compatiblility issues with RB3 I would think HMX would do the same thing Activision did with GH5.  GH5 dlc doesn't work with GHWT but GHWT dlc does work with GH5.  The songs are forward compatible not backwards compatible. 

With as much as HMX hyped the forward compatibility, I don't see them trashing the current catalog when a new game comes out. Not allowing the RB1/2 DLC catalog would also affect future sales of older previously released DLC, and why would they throw away money in the bank so to speak?

New DLC not working with old games also makes current customers have to buy a new game if you want to continue to grow your personal DLC collection.  Which sounds a lot like a Bobby Kotick tactic to me.

I can imagine the RB1/2 DLC will work with RB3.

I'm about to spend around £50 on RB DLC, and i'm sure I speak for alot of people. If that DLC doesn't work for RB3, I won't buy it. Unless RB3 has a majorly awesome setlist.

Like said before, if Harmonix didn't let RB3 get the past DLC then there would be an extremely large crowd of extremely annoyed fans. HMX would go against the entire system they've set up if they didn't allow backward compatibility.
