No, FEAR 2 is not a superior horror game. As an action game it is more slick but that's it.

Best horror game ever? Silent Hill 2. Put the fear of *** into me.
I needed a shower afterwards.

Omg yeah SH2 with the Pyramid Head who kept trying to "have his way" let's say, with all the nurses and other deformed freaks, I LOVE SILENT HILL GAMES!!!!!!!!!!!...did you ever beat it? if so what endings did ya get?

I only beat the game once, as the first playthrough left me a little drained and unwilling to put myself through it again. The ending is a little vague to me though - I remember killing a duo of Pyramid 'eads after watching the dead-alive-dead-alive chick get skewered, learning about what the protagonist did to his dying wife, then I remember meeting her ghost who morphed into a succubus type beastie who just so happened to be welded to a hospital bed.

Oh aye, a flying hospital bed.

I don't remember what happened after that, though I remember the theme of coming to terms with the guilt of mercy killing of a loved one.

SH 1 was brilliantly disturbing too. I remember getting and completing the US import before the PAL version was ever released. Quite grateful I did, as the child-like monsters in the school were watered-down to crappy teddy bears in the PAL version.
Still to this day the hair on my neck prickles if I hear an air raid siren in an old movie or a piece of music.

I never got round to SH 3, but played half an hour of SH 4 and fell asleep. I've not bothered with the series since.
Oh, and the movie was awful. I'd have walked out of the cinema had I not been completely inebriated. Pyramid Head did not belong in that story.

Wow...I just posted but it reset...I said Silent Hill one was fantastic and scary back in the day (1999?) The school was real spooky, but the Nurse Lisa transormation was real creepy...Silent Hill 2 has several endings each of which are incredibly unqiue, I recommend youtubing the joke ending called "The Dog Ending" that's pretty funny. Silent Hill 3 was great fun and really spooky, I have it on PC...Silent Hill 4 was just dull...the movie I thought personally was decent, although Sean Bean has never looked so uncomftable in a film role ever lol.

The movie was an absolute travesty, although I was pleased to see a British actor struggling with an American accent, and not the other way round for a change.

The second game was easily the best one in the entire series IMO, much like Resident Evil. Everything went rapidly downhill after no 2, including the awful movies.

Resident Evil 1 - Fantastic.....................Resident Evil 2 - Redifined Fantastic........................Resident Evil 3 - Um.Ok......................Resident Evil 4 - Didn't feel like Resident Evil but still sweet..............Resident Evil 5 - Same as RE4.................Resident Evil Zero - Pretty good............Resident Evil Remake - Awsome....................Resident Evil Code Veronica - Almost Groundbreaking (I had on Dreamcast lol), loved the story and gameplay..............The Resident Evil Movies were decent except for Extinction (mind control?....lameeeeeeeeee IMO) but I don't like to link the movies to the game as they made no sense. Ali Larter in RE Apocalypse played a hot Claire Redfield IMO. but I also liked Mike Epps' action in the story, and the outakes for Apocalypse are absolutly hillarious with LJ.

Stroke Victim 2008

I think finding the dead guy in the locker in Condemned is still the creepiest moment I've had in a video game fright-wise cuz the mind of a serial killer is pretty fascinating and I thought they captured that sense fairly well in certain parts of that game.  And of course Alma has always been portrayed well in all of her incarnations.  Just the presentation in FEAR 2 was a little bit too gung ho PG 13 friendly, but I'm sure they did that to appeal to the 18 and under COD 4 crowd...which backfired in their face I think.
