How do I make an official complaint?
Specifically against a moderator?

I am not going to go into why you want to report a moderator (quite honestly, I don't care).  I am just going to give you a warning.

If the moderator HAS done something that violates the Terms of Use.  He/She will be dealt with appropriately.  If however, the mod has done something that you (and maybe others) completely disagree with, but DOES NOT violate any Terms of Use rules.  The complaint will be disregarded.

Just keep this in mind if you still wish to pursue this complaint.

That wasn't how I was intended it.  If the mod had done something wrong, then they should be as accountable as us regular poster (if not more).  If they had done nothing wrong, then the OP should not be surprised if nothing happens.

Re: How do I make an official complaint?
I refer to this post.

http://forums.xbox.com/28792489/ShowPost.aspx#28792489

I merely enquired regarding another users account and the moderator dealing with the case assumed I was enquiring about an account which I owned. The moderator then branded me as a racist who uses profanities which now gives me a bad reputation to anyone who reads this. Microsoft may own the rights to my gamertag, but my online identity is j4ynut which they do not own the rights to. This is now causing me several problems work related as I am a web designer and I am now looking at legal action for a libel case.

I would also like to add, as the post was locked I could not reply to the accusation which Bootblack had made. I then tried to post a new reply in the same section of the forum addressing the situation and merely asking him to change his response as it was not my account and as I checked my emails, I found the post had been removed, so I am even unable to clear my name.

Re: How do I make an official complaint?
And where in you locked post that you mentioned did you say "This isn't my account" or something along those lines?
The reason for the section of the forums is to question about your own account. Not a friends, family members. ect.
The account wasn't yours that you were asking about, make the owner of the account make the topic.

I said, and I quote, "Can someone tell me why account cremat0ria was suspended?". In no way does that sentence refer that the gamertag is infact my own. I am not the one making an assumption.

I also quote from the rules for posting. "Include the gamertag you are asking about." It does not once mention the account has to be owned by you for enquiring. There are plenty of parents enquiring as to why their childrens accounts have been suspended, so there is no difference in me querying a friends account.

First of all Bootblack is not a mod.  Mods are unpaid volunteers on this forum, and are NOT employed by Microsoft.  Bootblack is a paid staff member of Microsoft.  Don't confuse the two.  You are complaining against mods, when the mods did nothing to you (a bit unfair IMHO).

As for your actual complaint.  Step back for a second and look at this objectively (not on your side, not on Bootblacks side).  Hundreds of threads have be create by people in that section asking why THEIR (not their friends) alternate account has been suspended.  Wouldn't it be safe to assume that when YOU ask about a suspended account WITHOUT ONCE indicating that it was NOT your account, he would mistakenly believe you owned the account?

If you had said "
Can someone tell me why my friends account cremat0ria was suspended?".  You would not have this issue here now.  In fact, it was ONLY because Bootblack thought the account belonged to you that your thread actually got an answer.  If *and this is a big IF* he knew you were posting that thread on behave of a friend (not yourself), Bootblacks answer would be something along the lines of "We do not discuss other user suspensions.  Please ask your friend to come in here on a new account and ask about his own suspension."   He would NOT have told you why your friend was suspended if he knew that 'cremat0ria' was not your account.

It was YOUR omission that got you here, nothing else.

Incidentally  there is a BIG difference between a parent asking about their child's account, and you asking about your friends account.  The parents is responsible for what is on their child's account, and deserves an answer when their is a discrepancy.  You are in no way responsible for you friends account, so you deserve no answer.

Re: How do I make an official complaint?
Zen, well in that case there may be some breach of data protection on Bootblacks side, which may have to be addressed.

I merely asked for the post to be changed and my request was ignored, the post I made requesting that deleted, I would also like an apology which I have not received. As I said, there is nothing in the terms that states you are not allowed to enquire about a friends account. Also in that case, if my response would have been "ask the person in question to raise the enquiry" then why is it anyone who logs in to these forums, for that matter anyone who doesn't log into these forums can view threads stating why accounts have been banned.

Assumptions should never be made by staff as it can get them in a lot of bother. He made an assumption that now makes me look like a racist. Where a company like Microsoft is concerned, this sort of thing should not happen. The response should have been "account cremat0ria was suspended because" not "you were suspended because". If I made an assumption like that in my place of work my contract would be immediately terminated.

I find it appalling that not one moderator or paid member has staff has offered me any help regarding this situation and how it is now having an impact on myself.

Zen, whether you are a moderator or not I would prefer if an employee of the Microsoft team contact me regarding this issue.

I'll also make this clear, I am not some kid coming on to this site kicking and screaming about an issue created by myself. I have not created this issue, as I said, assumptions should never be made in a way that could offend a paying customer of a service, it is bad business practice and Microsoft being a company of that size should know the impact it could have on business.

Re: How do I make an official complaint?
You made the assumption that they would answer the way you like.  They gave an answer to a question you asked.  If it was for someone else then you should have stated that.  If that answer adversely affects you then you should have been more clear in your inquiry.  Also, you are posting on a public forum and therefore subjected to public answers.  I can almost guarantee that you will not get a MS employee to answer you.

Re: How do I make an official complaint?
Def one,

It's nothing to do with "answering the way I like". I requested the post be changed as it refers to the gamertag in question being linked to myself. I made a simple request when Bootblack is in the wrong for assuming the account belongs to me.

I will reiterate, the question I asked was why account cremat0ria was banned. In no way does that refer to the tag being owned by myself. An assumption made in the business world can cause businesses to crash, empires to fall, and Microsoft being the size of company that it is should know this, their staff are made aware of this.

I am now only repeating myself, post after post. I completely understand that I'm getting answers from users, but these are not constructive answers as for some reason I am being accused of asking "the wrong question", but as this was the only way I could put a post across as I have been ignored by the staff I had no other option. Everyone, feel free to report the posts, as then I may receive an answer, but I feel completely let down by Microsoft as no one is taking responsibility or even simply changing the post.

Re: How do I make an official complaint?
I dissagree with you. If Bootblack is indeed a paid microsoft employee then it is his responsibility to investigate the facts. He needs to determine who he is dealing with before labeling people. He should have microsoft's resources at his disposal to do this with; or make follow-up inquiries to determine who he is dealing with and respond appropriately. Again, if he is paid, this is his PROFESSIONAL obligation. Now, we only know j4ynut's side(sorry), without Bootblack's side, we don't know that he did not respond correctly. Thanx For Listening.

Re: How do I make an official complaint?
I totally agree Eric, and to be honest, if the account in question was owned by me, I would not make a fool of myself by complaining about a response I received, as that post would also be public. I've see so many users come onto the forums asking why their accounts were banned and claiming "I didn't do anything wrong" to then have it publicly posted "actually you did, and here's a list of things", so to see that they have these resources at their fingertips, assumptions should not happen.

The main reason I believe I have no had contact is because none of the moderators or staff have anything they can say, because they know they've made a mistake, but admitting the mistake and simply changing the post would have resolved this a few days ago. They are making the situation worse for themselves by not responding and simply abandoning their users when something does go wrong which they have caused.
