Hello, i bought an xbox 360 sometime in may and have been using it with xbox live since then. For a few days my xbox has been freezing and when restarted, getting 3 red lights. So i went on youtube and looked up how to remove the white casing so i could air it out. i took it off, used some compressed aire, put it back, plugged it in, and i was banned. Why? and is there any possible way to get this undone as i havent done anything wrong other than stop my system from overheating.

I've just been banned and I didn't do anything like that, just got on today and found out I was banned. Any ideas?

possibly when you opened it it flipped some sort of switch and thought you were a modder who is trying to change the programming

i thought i might of done something like that but i still explained my case and i can show them the 360 to prove that it hasnt been modded and yet as far as i know they say the decision is final?

My console was also banned from xbox live recently a few days back and i didn't even play any game online any idea wads the problem?

If you had these problems, you should send your xbox in for repair, not open it up and do it yourself.  although this might seem counter-intuitive,  if you expect any support or warranty, then you should follow the rules and send it in.

I have gold member from 1 year and i wass banned with same reason if i buy another console i can use my hardware wehere i have save my all profile ?

You can still use your accessories like your hard drive. however all the data will appear to be corrupted. you will have to format it and then recover your gamertag. You will loose all game saves but the hard drive is still functional.

If you have problems send it back to Microsoft and they will repair it. If you open it up yourself, and took its or moved it, it might have triggered something and then banned your xbox. Also the person above ^^^ Your son might have done something wrong or played copied games or modded his console. Xbox do not ban peoples xbox for no reason.

Stop saying they don't ban people for no reason, they definitely do and i am one of them. It's the holiday season an frankly their probably trying to make people buy xbox's to boost their sales. They don't give you evidence of why they banned you, and there's no way that they'll remove the ban, and you're gonna tell me its not a scam. No respect for their customers is what it is.

I had to read this afew times to get my head around it, am i right in saying that you was banned for a reason (probably having a flashed xbox) and you're claiming to be a customer that desirves respect? never mind i just read it again sorry about that haha.

why cant microsoft just say y we were banned and not look at the terms i no the terms. i just want to know the exact term i supposedly broke. and yes i could have sent in my 360 for repair but being as it was already past its warranty becuase of its manufacture date i thought i would be allowed to clean out my own system that i paid for the right to do what i want with. i can see saying that my warranty is void because i opened it but banning me from being able to play online?if im not allowed to clean it myself it might as well just be a rental

Just opening the system up will not get you banned. However if you powered it up without some cables hooked up they might detect that as a possible console mod. They also will not tell you specifically why you were banned. If they did this then the pirates would know what they found and adjust accordingly on future modded systems. If they just give blanket reason like they do it throws the pirates off since they don't really know how microsoft is detecting them.

No mention on why his console was banned? Microsofts way of getting people to spend money? Hang on, majority of these cases seem to be modification to play pirated games. Good on microsoft for doing their bit to protect the gaming industry. The cost of a new console is nothing compared to the amount of games that can be stolen with a modified console. I think the people that have modified and played pirated games should count themselves lucky they just need to buy a new console, there should be strong legal bite-back in my opinion -and regardless of age, these people are aware of what they are doing. And these idiots that downloaded COD MW2 (note: NOT the ones who got it early legitimately) and play it on an xbox that is connected to live? I find that hilarious. do they really think no one will notice? And to anyone that is touting the line 'im going to go buy a ps3 now..etc' its probably a good thing, If it werent for people with these attitudes, the community would be thriving.

I agree. Good riddance and enjoy your PS3. Im guessing half of these complainers are people who play pirated games and get all whiny when they find out they've been banned? I find it pretty funny. Especially when they act like us, the other players, are going to be devastated by them going to waste money on a PS3 instead.

If you honestly think it is a big conspiracy by Bill Gates to randomly ban their customers for no reason at all, then you my friends, might want to look into some help.

i think its kind of sad. cause you know theres a few actual people who didnt do anything or people who bought pre modded consoles that had been returned and stuff. their getting called pirates and thieves and such even though they didnt do anythnig. im not saying this is the case with everyone mind you, but im sure its happened to at least a handful of people

umm yeah hello. im banned from console too. im not sure if my account is banned because it doesn't says anything about it. but if i try to recover my account on another xbox, and my account is banned, will the xbox get banned too then?

I love how everybody acts so innocent. Everybody knew what they were doing when they had their consoles modded. Just buy a new 360, or get a PS3, and buy the games you want to play online on there. The online service is free.

You can use your profile on another console mate, the only reason your new console would get banned is if you break the terms and conditions on that one eg modding it to play copied games.

ja man ich bin auch gebannt worden und ich weiß net warum ich hab nichts falsches getan ich habe bei microsft angerufen und die haben mir gesagt es könnte sein das ich ein spiel gespielt hab was noch nicht draußen ist aber das stimmt nicht ich habe orginale spiele und habe erst seid 3 monaten xbox live meine xbox erst seit ein halbes jahr das find ich richtig scheiße und mein live geht noch bis nächstes jahr august 2010 ich hab dafür geld bezahlt wenn die mich bannen dann will mein verdammtes geld zurück !!!!!!!!!
