I just am getting ready to start playing this game and was curious.  Is the game really difficult on Hard Diificulty?  Or would it be best to play it on the easier difficulty first?  Thank you for any and all help!

It would probaly be better to play through the game on the normal difficulty first and get the U.F.O. ending so when you play through the game on hard you can do it with the laser pistol. That makes playing the game on hard really really easy.

It's a difficult game at first -- gets better once you learn how to quickly roll, move and dodge attacks.  You cannot just stand there and duke it out with the bad guys.  There are a few boss battles that are quite difficult, and a few times when you get attacked by multiple needlers or schizms and such.

I too would recommend starting in easy or normal, and make choices that lead to the UFO ending (to obtain the laser pistol for all subsequent playthroughs).  Once you have the laser pistol, the game (even in hard) becomes more fun.
