I went through a phase when I didn't play any FPS and now I'm finally getting around to Bioshock and I'm just wondering if I need any advice about the game ?

Pay close attention, take your time, watch out for big daddys. At one point in the game, you will meet a charector named Sander Cohen. Do NOT kill him the first time you see him. it will help you later on.

It's a piece of crap...I would have sold it to you for a dollar, but it looks like you already bought it.

That is too bad because in these times of economic crisis I could have used the extra $$$ toward something else.

I found you got better rewards being good.  They arn't apparent right away though.  Also make sure you download the free dlc pack with the extra plasmids.  The adam to buy them in the game is set at one, very cheep!  It also counts toward the plasmid collection achievement

Take it slow and pay attention to the story...meaning listen to all the recordings :)

The game is very easy especially on the hardest difficulty. Thats the one fault this game has. Other than that look everywhere audio diaries are hidden all over rapture, gene tonics have to be looked for. Also stay alert, you never know when you will be blinded or when you think someone is dead. Wonderful game.

Don't drink too much alcohol all the time...or...if you get a certain upgrade...go ahead and drink all you want

Yeah, good choice on purchasing BioShock as your first FPS.

I'd also recommend The Orange Box and Modern Warfare 2.
