Xbox 360 cooling unit
I'm planning on buying an xbox 360 and it was recommended to me that I buy an additional cooling unit (e.g. Intec Cooling Station, Nyko Intercooler). Does anyone know of a good cooling unit? If so, where can I buy it and about how much will it cost? Thanks in advance for your help.

Re: Xbox 360 cooling unit
You don't need them, they haven't been proven to do anything.  Just don't stick your 360 in a cramped entertainment system and allow it to have plenty of ventilation and it will be fine.

Re: Xbox 360 cooling unit
I have one thing to say about that if you want it to look nice and put it somewhere cramped like me i put it in a litle slot that fit it perfectly but i knew it would overheat very easily in there so i but the intercooler ex and it has worked very well for me seeing that i have never had my xbox over heat or have any malfunction.

IT is your choice but i'm justing trying to give more options.

Re: Xbox 360 cooling unit
my intecooler ts works brillantly I had my xbox ventilated then it e-74 since my video card melted bacause it did overheat before i brought a intercoller ts. Since i got one it works my xbox has worked well over a year, and it turns on twice to keep it cool while its off because the heat rises in the xbox which causes the hardware to get even more worned out because of the soder melts at these high temperatures worst cause the Cpu would fry.
game release dates are confusing as this http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-2004785759717366066

Re: Xbox 360 cooling unit
don't buy the intercooler. Do a search on the net on them... they're fire hazzards and if they're the type that use the 360 power cord, they can get you banned (check that too). If you're worried about heatget a pair of compute case fans and wire them to a switched 12v power supply and (with the console laying flat put them again the right side blowing in.. This will do better than the intercoolers.

Re: Xbox 360 cooling unit
really i don't see what your proving i went on an online sreach for 2 weeks before i got the intercooler ex and after those 2 weeks i find that 3/4 of the people want there xbox 360 unit to look nice in a small space but not to overheat and i also find out that the intercool ex had only not even close to as many problems as people think.
1. having it connected to the power does not get you banned.
2. it does a lot for your system it does keep in very cool.

Thats is what i have to say. I have had the intercooler ex for 1.3 years and it helped.

Re: Xbox 360 cooling unit
I had just recently received a Nyko TS unit. It made a 30 degree difference in temp on my xbox. I checked the air temp coming out of the fans before and after the intercooler with a calibrated thermometer. The TS has it's own power supply, so it does not use the xbox360's power whatsoever. Installation and removal makes no marks or warranty voids anywhere on the console.

Some of the older model intercoolers, I know caused problems, but I can not see a forseeable problem with the TS unit I have. A fellow forum member did a nice write up on modded TS units, with documentation to back up the intercoolers positive impact on the xbox. Long read, but here's a link to that thread, if you get bored. lol

Re: Xbox 360 cooling unit
Like i said i have to intercooler ex it uses the xbox power supply but nothing has ever happened to the xbox i own and if it does void the warrenty then buy one anyway because first if the xbox does have a error then microsoft won't know if you uses the intercooler and if they do then say fine don't fixmy xbox and just go to the nearest target and get a 3 year $30 warrenty and give to them to fix. Just my point is that an intercooler might save your 360 from overheating and using the 360 power supply does not get you banned. That i what i have to say.
