Struggling on mission 6
I've got to the fuel depot, taken out the crouching soldier, and planted the C4. Then as i try to escape the depot i get overwhelmed and nailed by the other soldiers, everytime.
Cant fathom it out.

Leave ur men at the top of the hill where u start and do it on ur own. complete the diversion then sneak in as you did before and sneak out thru the fuel cylinders, up the hill, then detonate. ur extraction point is just above where u started, your men 'should' make it easier for you to get to the chopper.

Still cant get out. Its just as if all of the surrounding buildings suddenly become transparent! No chance of sneaking out and too many troops to fight off.
Really stumped and getting a bit cheesed off now! Angry [:@]

Re: Struggling on mission 6
This one took me ages too. there is another way I believe and thats to grab the jeep that was at the start of the hill and drive it into the genni... not sure how true this is but got to be worth a try..

Make sure you approach from the diversion side and dont the sprinting across the depot. A few times, once i'd placed the charge, as soon as I got beond the geni fence the alarm was raised, sometimes it didn't.. I think I crawled in the end.. then go back up the hill the same way you came down..

There will be lots of walk-thru vids on YouTube.

I had to make sure we kicked off the diversion that gets the jeep next to the fuel tanks to take off with a bunch of soldiers. Leave your guys in the shack were you killed the gunner and sneak down to the lowest bushes to the left of the shack. Just be carefull and pull back out once the diversion start or the senty will sometimes see you and sound the alarm. Good Luck!

smoke smoke smoke!
tell your team to follow you in then before planting c4 order them to fall back, they will use smoke. then use all of yours. that should be more than enough cover to get you in and out.

My guys and I picked off all the guys at the front entrance from up on the hill. Then we circled around the back entrance (where the trucks are). Had my guys flank left and picked off most of the soldiers myself at the rear entrance while they were suppressed. Walked right in the back with my guys, assulting the guy by the truck. Planted the charge and ran out the back, spreading my guys out and assaulting all the guys to the left as they came running in. Good luck !!

Hey EA... How about some system link !!

Re: Struggling on mission 6
This was a very tough mission for me to complete on the first go through also.  I barely completed it on normal difficulty.  I played it guns blazing on normal and barely escaped with my life.  However, I have been replaying the campaign on hardcore and I completed the mission the first time using stealth only and was 100% successful.  I think the stealth way to play it is the best.

Firstly, do not kill the soldier that is dropped off by the PLA truck at the beginning of the mission.  (Not sure if you are doing this but have to make sure.)  Even if you successfully kill that guy, it puts the rest of the PLA on a heightened awareness for trouble because that guy never shows up to his checkpoint.

Hustle over to the over watch position.  Make sure that when you take that guys down, that it is a one shot - one kill.  Otherwise, the PLA will be in a heightened awareness mode.  Didn't know if you knew this or not but with your night vision goggles on, you can then press right on the D-Pad to activate an IR laser pointer that can only be seen while wearing the goggles.  Comes in handy when lining up a head shot.  Also, the PLA can't see the pointer because they aren't wearing night vision goggles.

I make sure that my guys are set to "return fire" only, next.  Stay in crouch mode and walk slowly from this point on.

I then leave (1) rifleman at the overwatch by using the "defend" command on him only.  I take the other rifleman and medic with me to the first tree line to the left and down the hill.

I then leave (1) rifleman at that tree line by using the "defend" command on him only.  I then take the medic with me to the next tree line down the hill.   This position should give you LOS to the entrance at the depot.  I then tell the medic to defend this area.  The jeep should have left the depot by this time.

I spread my team like this so that I can get reports of the patrols around the depot by my team mates that show up on my map.  I then wait for the sentry to pass by my location (he'll be 25 meters away from you when he walks by) and then I infiltrate by myself to the propane tanks at the depot entrance.  I then take a bead on the crouching soldier and make sure that I get the one shot - one kill on him.  Check your map next to make sure that the sentry isn't walking by the entrance again.  Your engineer will let you know his whereabouts by voice also.  Once I make sure that it is clear, I crouch walk to the generator and drop the C4.  Start crouch walking to the entrance again with your rifle equipped.  If you get a message from the game that says "alarm has been raised" as you are egressing, then immediately put your squad on "Fire at will."  Having all three guys at different levels along that flank will give you great coverage to take out enemies along your egress out of the depot.

Hustle past the medic and swing wide way wide and up the mountain side.  If you do it right your character will lose LOS of the depot altogether.  Command your squad to "fall back" to your position.  They will drop smoke and then egress to your location.  Once you see the first soldier making his way to your location, command your whole squad to follow you in a tight column with return fire only.

Start heading toward the LZ from the flank swinging as far wide as possible from danger.  You may encounter a team of 2 PLA overwatching the depot en route.  You can kill them or bypass them.  Up to you.  (I killed them.)  Make your way to the LZ and eliminate the remaining PLA.

Worked for me.  Maybe this will work for you?

I left out that you detonate the C4 once you break LOS with the depot.  Right before you tell your squad to fall back to your position.

I don't mind dieing over and over, but that initial long walk is getting really old.

I can't get past the LZ. Do I have to eliminate ALL the PLA before I am extracted by the helicopter? I tried entering the helo, but it just sits there.

It usually is yes, so use the map to find them and clear things out.

I played this tonight on hardcore.  My fireteam just made it to the LZ as it was over run, so I just jumped in the chopper and ordered the squad to follow.  It took a while for my squad to finally make it into the chopper, as a result I watched one of the gunners take a round to the head as we were taking off.

So basically, no, you don't have to have a clear LZ to take off, as we were completely over run and taking heavy, heavy fire at lift off.  You do, however, need to get your entire squad on board before the bird will lift off.

I'll bet that's what it was... If your squad is engaged, they may not board. If there are enemies, they are engaged, so telling to get on board was smart (note to self).

This mission made me want to break stuff. For some reason as I was playing it all the fuel depot buildings went all weird and the hostiles could see and shoot me through the buildings while I could not see them. I finally put it down and came back the next day and aced it.

Re: Struggling on mission 6
So I set the team to return fire and basically sit tight at the insertion point. Meanwhile, I troop off alone to the OP, ping the guy standing there and move along to where I can see the jeep/soldiers AND that random single doing his 'patrol'. Right after they bug out on the wild goose chase, I sneak in to the compound near the tanks, ping the solo kneeling near the genny and then run flat out to the small building in the genny enclosure (making sure the bad guys out back are not going to spot me). In with the C4 and out back the way I came (no 'splosions just yet). Success. Order the team to a left flankish position wide of the ruins back of the LZ. Now I do the C4 thing and all hell breaks loose back at the depot, whilst I run like hell for the LZ. Order the team to flank left the self same ruins where the bad guys are in lurk mode back of the LZ (remembering to give 'em weps free), ping the two randoms that I meet as I near the last tree line en route to the LZ, rendezvous back at the helo, and whisk the hell outta there!

On hardcore too!

Admittedly on the second attempt, but hey! It worked for meSmile [:)]

Good grief Charlie Brown!
I love reading how others completed the mission, but I cant stand this any more lol. No sense in being a broken record about failing mission 6 how many times now? Idea [I] Id say if you cant man up after 2 weeks and given, what like 4 or 5 different successful scenarios to try, that maybe its time to move on to an easier game you can finish and have fun with.

Phew! finally done it! This method worked a treat. One thing i did that did help was i waited for the patrol guard to pass back towards the left before entering the depot. Gives you a little longer to take out the crouching guard and plant the C4 so there's less chance of being spotted. I actually managed to exit unseen and the alarm was only raised when i triggered the C4. Cheers Victor E Boon! Nice one!

I have a question, and I am sure I am doing something really dumb but whichever direction I approach from the diversion never seems to happen.  I get to the overwatch point and sabre 3 says they will start their diversion in 1 mike and basically however long I wait, there's no diversion.  I've tried moving closer to the base to trigger this but sooner or later I get spotted and killed.

So my question is, is there something specific I have to do to get the diversion going?

If you zoom out in map mode you should see to the east of your position like 1 humvee that distracts some enemies. Ive seen the humvee glitch and just spin around in circles, other times it works fine. Its not a huge attack if thats what your expecting, so after that you should get a go ahead and move forward.
