The triumphant return of Greater Joe
I sat, I mulled it over.  I miss the productive/in-depth gaming conversations.  I miss my OXM homies.  I don't miss the over-sensitivity, or the assumption that I'm a ball buster because of how many systems you may or may not play.  That's the furthest thing from the truth.  Let's wipe the slate clean and everyone Chillax.  I apologize if anything that I said may have been misinterpreted the wrong way.  Lets just talk game smak they way God-intended.
I'm back.  And glad to be.

Now <mod removed - code of conduct> did I miss?

Oh and as a sub-topic starter I got MW2 ahead of time (as usual).  Its as awesome as you expect it to be so far.

Welcome, welcome, welcome! Seriously, though, you didn't miss anything.

And HOW DID YOU GET MW2???

Love you, Joe, glad you're back. Quick question. Is the MW 2 single player and co-op alone worth a purchase?

Thanx for the love bro :)
I didn't get a chance to explore every nook and cranny the way I would've liked to because I got it really late and I was really tired from drinking..the CEO of the company I work for through us a huge beer party cause the Yanks won again..for the 27th time.  When I get further into it this weekend I'll drop details.  Or while I'm playing hit me up.  I was playing for a bit while chatting with Axe last night.

This is why New York rocks, right Joe? Smile [:)]

My impressions so far: The single-player campaign alone is worth the purchase. The main bad guy alone (Makarov, if you've been paying any attention to the media) is award-winning. I personally consider Modern Warfare 2 to be Call of Duty's The Dark Knight. I've heard a few things about the ending (not in any specific detail), and I hear it's quite amazing.

I'm only up to Mission 5 of 18, and so far, I love it. I'm also playing on Veteran, and surprisingly, it's not tough at all.

Ahhh, 2007... Great memories, bad girlfriends. 8D

I'm very excited for Modern Warfare 2.  The only thing that ticks me off is that my Xbox is still out of business, and I mailed it off yesterday after class.  I could hope that it gets back before Tuesday, but then I'd just be lying to myself.  However, I will be picking it up at the midnight release... I'll just stare at it until my Xbox reappears. >_>

Oh, and welcome back, Joe!  Knew you wouldn't stay gone for long. ;)

I decided to show up after Joe came back. My activity died earlier this year because of my choice to do worthless moderating work at some other forum. I was stabbed in the back by the head admin who recruited me after my service there, so I made a youtube video of his secret trash-talking about two kind members of the site. That pretty much killed his forum, so now I'm back. Kind of. Smile [:)]

I got into the gaming journalism scene last September with my spare time to improve on my writing and hopefully go somewhere someday. I also wrote the site's reviews for Borderlands and Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising.

And although my Gamerscore has risen since my last appearance here, I'm not the Gamerscore Monger as I used to be. I still complete my games for fun, but I'm not as crazy for score as I used to be. I guess you can consider that my title of "Local Achievement Nut" has somewhat faded away. Wink [;)]

Now that my story is over, how has everyone been? I plan on helping you guys rev up the activity engine again.

I remember hearing it was only restricted for certain gametypes. Ground War, I believe, -does- have party chat.

Oh. Hi Joe. How's the fiancee doing?

I heard that you cant even use it in gametypes like Deathmatch (hardcore/normal) which is just dumb beyond reason. It seems like Activision is just doing whatever they want because they know they're gonna sell a ton of copies. I guess im part of the problem lol.

Actually, Joe was talking to me in a party while playing MW2 online. I think that only game types like Search-and-Destroy disable the party function.

There's a reason behind the madness. It makes you either have to talk to your teammates or at least listen to them. I understand the reason, and really.. I don't think it's all that bad. Asking players in a game to at least attempt to communicate in a team game is A-OK with me.

PS: This forum hates me with a passion. There's so many things about copying, pasting, and spacing that annoy the balls of me.

Im not gonna be communicating with random people. I gave up on that a long time ago. Its rare to come across a whole team of people that actually want to communicate and not just talk s**t.

That's exactly why I don't like the fact that they made the decision with the party system.  I don't care about the cheating aspect or whatever; I just want to be able to talk with my friends and play a fun video game.  I mean, the only thing you hear in lobbies is trash-talking and other meaningless crap.  I think only once or twice have I come across a team that fully communicated and really used that to win the game, and then were nice about it at the end.

That's once (or twice) out of the tons of hours I've put into Call of Duty 4.

I play with a full team of friends in a party so there's no need for this function. This isn't going to force anyone to talk. Most people with microphones never said anything in the first Modern Warfare. I don't like being made to talk in the game only. I don't like hearing the idiots on Live. There's always some jerk who has to say something sexist or racist and I'd rather not listen to that type of garbage. I just want to chat with my friends who I know are good people and I don't have to listen to some bigot or some kid screaming into his mike. It's very unfair to do this to players.
You gotta pay the troll toll.
