Hopefully the gameplay will be a bit more "fluid" than the last one and they would have gotten rid of that annoying gradient to black overview thing on the screen that they used to try to make the graphics look better, which annoyed me like crap the entire game.

Also ME is 9.95US on steam atm.

TBH I watched 10 seconds of the video and saw him walking. More of the same, too much walking. Yawn.

Yeah I really enjoyed the first game. Looking forward to this game for sure. I was thinking about creating a new character to continue on with in ME2 but I figured I would play as my first character, as it's the character I didn't read up on any information for.

Sorry bout the double post but I can no longer edit my original post.

Just finished watching the video. This is the first video I watched for the game so my impressions are the sound(especially gun fire) sounds a lot better, graphics are obviously an improvement. One thing I think doesn't make sense is we have ammo now? In Mass Effect they had a cool back story about how they no longer need ammo but instead had to watch out for over heating.

you know you can turn that off right?...

ME was a sleeper hit for me, I picked it up cheap during a play-asia sale and was just stunned by the entire game (gameplay, graphics and story).  Sargath does raise a good point though, lets hope ME2 runs a lot more fluid then the last.

Does Vakarian count? Not that they're keeping him a secret.

Way to ruin the franchise, Bakula!

This game looks incredible! ME1 was one of my favourites, have played that many playthroughs.. i only hope that the guy was playing on a low difficulty.

I'm so temped to watch the whole vid, but only watched a little bit

I've seen a couple of other vid's that reveal stuff, but now i want to hold out till January without spoiling anything else (it's pretty tough Stick out tongue [:P])

But from what I've seen it looks amazing and cannot wait to play it
I love the whole sci-fi package, great gameplay, characters, story, music etc.

MW2 will be awesome, but ME2 will be more fulfilling imo

Nah, you couldn't, unless you played the PC version or something in which they may have added such a feature.

You did know you could switch that filter off in the setup menu i take it :)
Apparently this new one does not have that terrible texture loading issue of the first game either it is now all super slick and smooth as a babies bottom :)

yes you could my friend! go into "extras", then "options", and then you'll see the "film grain" setting, third from the top - you can switch it on or off from there Wink [;)]

Re: Mass Effect 2, 9 Straight minutes of Gameplay
i think the film grain suits games like silent hill or condemned better than it did with mass effect...

with the video, i think it's looking great so far. who cares if there's running? it's not wall-e, where all the humans are obese pigs who need hydraulic floating devices to get from one slurpee to the next!

i like a game where it's a combination of exploration & fighting. it worked well, if a little clunky in mass effect, and if they tighten it up and bit in this one, it could be awesome. some more meaningful outcomes for the choices and conversations would be great too. they worked well last time, so bringing out more would be even cooler for replayability and building your character.

my main concern is the environments, i hope this time, each is unique, rather than arriving on different planets to see the same structures over and over again. more life is needed too. these are entire planets we're visiting - we need more than clusters of humans/humanoid aliens - we need to see bird life, animals, insects, all kinds of wildlife in these places, rather than a few monsters or mission specific animals.

i've noticed this generation most games have ignored the element of life in games. civilians and wildlife filling the environments are paramount to believability for me, for the immersion. otherwise it's just like walking through an area designed for me to find some objects and kill some targets. make it more of a world, than a simulator... then it's more fun.
