Military Members and Xbox Live. Help Please Q&A
Hey all I'm posting this in regards to finding the best provider for Xbox Live on a base.

At my living quarters the the dormitory is not supplied with an active internet connection,

I have one of three options: one of which I am currently using.

1. CLEAR
2. Xanadu
3. Verizon Mobile

now i am using clear already and it sucks. it is slow and the DL speeds are terrible.

so naturally i know by falt when i get my xbox shipped here LIVE will not work.

does anyone have any products/services they recommend so I can get to gaming for CoD:MW2 and Left 4 dead 2

Thanks.

also if your active or retired military let me know :)

I'm not in the armed forces but IMO you should research on what service is the strongest for the area you are based in.

In the UK most Networks have a map on there site of what area there service covers and what it does not cover

CLEAR maybe the only service you can get a decent service were you are

IF you post some details of were you are exactly based I'm sure some of us Techy Nerds will do the research for youGeeked [8-|]

Well my current location is Sheppard AFB Tx, which is in the northern part of texas.

they offer those 3 but i havent been able to do much research on the 3 services. i picked up clear because it was the cheapest and most people on base used it.

money isnt an issue on the case so i can cancel at anytime i just wish i would have put a little research into my decision

None of those services are a supported method, So you may experience nothing but a negative experience.

Satellite, Celluar, Mobile (3 / 4G), and radio or community ISPs have too much latency. Also the client / server relationship is in violation on many of these services "acceptable use" policy. You may have to play locally or provide LAN playing with other users on base.

Yes you can connect. But again, you take a chance of lagging out, not finding games, or slowing down other users sessions.

Sorry to double post, but edit session expired. Are you using one of these services now? If so which one? Check out speedtest.net and post results, I was wondering about something. Can you also ask one of the guys using Clear to do the same?

These are my wireless network results. Router is in the basement, I'm on the second floor. I never use wireless for online gaming.

The wired connection I use is usually over 15M d/l - 4M u/l - 9ms ping.
