force to change gamer tag
To whom it may concern. GAMER TAG: NARTZSS On the 3rd of 11 2009, I was playing my xbox360, gears of wars 2. When I was suddenly disconnected without any warning. A message later came through asking me to change my gamer tag. I then called microsoft, as I had no idea what was going on. After much confusion, as our comunication level was not the best. I was told i had recieved an email telling me to change my gamer tag. Which i didn't, now it is 2 hours after my complaint and i still have not recieved anything. All the lady could tell me is that my gamer tag was offensive. My gamer tag was not regestered yesterday, or today! It has been active since the first release. Why have u realised after 4-5 years. I would also like to know what is offensive about.? Not only have you taken away my indentity whitch I paid for, all my friends online know me with that gamer. Just to assist you aswell, with giving me an appropriate answer, let me tell you about my gamer: My name is Ignazio short for Ian in english and Nartz as my nickname, this what im refured to by all my friends. MY Melbourne, Australia vehicle registration is NARTZ and I drive a comodore SS, Thats where my gamer tag NARTZSS derives from. As a Loyal customer, Im hoping we can resolve this matter. I have changed my tag as I was blocked online, I was also told by the lady on the phone that the name i choose was also inapropriate, and I had to use my own points to change it again. Im not understanding why I should have to fork out for this un seen event. I would realy like someone who knows what is going on and give me some explanation. As im very annoyed with this. Thanking You Kindly ref:1116029186

well it seems to be someone that got pissed off at you or got bored made you change your gamer tag or its a scam and they wanted to steal your money but the most logical reson is that some one got mad and filed a complaint agianst you that is the most logical

  1. Nartzss sounds suspiciously like "Nart-zees"... i.e. "Naz is" (space is so it's not censored so you know what I'm talking about). MS don't have the time or resources to sit around and think up username words that could be offensive - including 1337 speek, tonal and spelling variations, etc. They get the basic ones blocked, but the rest rely on people reporting the offensive names so they can look into it and issue a FNC if necessary.

It has to be done, you won't win an "appeal" with that name as a) it could be deemed offensive by others, and b) the Complaints team look into them all before issuing 'em so it's not like it's random. Just be glad you don't have to pay for it.
  2. Forced name changes (FNCs) aren't paid for, J Beast - they're free for the offending tag so MS can be sure that it'll be changed.

Edit:  Even money says your new tag - "Ace Nartz" - goes the same way.

Like Link said, they look into it. If the gamertag isn't offensive, then they look past it. If the same people continue to file false complaints, they can and will be suspended for their actions.

BAM! and the dirt is gone!

Is your problem only on the website or on the xbox as well ie can you get on xbox live on the xbox using PhilG84? Is it possible you got a temporary ban?

Re: force to change gamer tag

No i don't believe it was a ban at all. It basically said microsoft has deemed my Gamertag Inappropriate and asked me to change it!

So i changed it to "PhilG84" and then i could play again. I am still currently playing on "PhilG84" however on my xboxlive account on the computer i cannot log on under either my first name i had "Blow7his" or the one i changed it to "PhilG84" and only can get on the new one "PhillyG84" and the new one doesnt have any friends on it that i actually have there including some gold that has gone missing as well.

thanks

Ok I am not sure exactly what is causing this but try changing the live id (so different email account and password) on your xbox on PhilG84 and then try logging in again on the website.

Isn't your gold on your old account not the new one or amy I missing something?

Re: force to change gamer tag
Thanks for your help so far.

How do i do i log into x box live account differently. it only allows me to use my hotmail accounts which are now the same account for all three gamertags but i can only get into my "PhillyG84" account????

Yes my gold is supposedly on my "PhilG84" account but i don't know how to get onto that?

actually ive heard of many ppl getting suspended for doing nothing wrong: someone joins a game and gets pissed at the banned person, tell all his friends to file complaint and theuser gets banned. depends on how many ppl are filing. if 40ppl does it, ms doesnt care about whether the person is legit or not

Re: force to change gamer tag
As much as would like to believe that some people do a half-assed job, in this case, it is not.

They do review every complaint. If I versed you online and you didn't like the outcome and filed a complaint, that'll get looked at. But, if random people on your FL started filing complaints, Microsoft will know it's BS because they can check to see if those people have versed me online.

Might sound confusing to you, because it is to me, but they don't suspend or 'FNC' for no reason.

BAM! and the dirt is gone!

you should be using different email accounts for each gamertag. that is your problem because when you log into xbox.com you are actually using your live id (email address) and I think it will only be linked to 1 gamertag.

I will check tonight but on your xbox if you go into account management there should be an option to change your liveid. Change it for the gamertags you do not want to use to other email addresses so your real liveid is available for your main gamertag.
