OK, this is ridiculous!!!
I have bought at least 3 Xbox 360s and countless games, dlc etc. Now my son's is banned from Xbox live???? For what??? We buy all of our games legit, no hacks or anything.

Is this the type of service we can expect from Microsoft from now on??

I need answers or it's off to Sony.

Thanks!

We do not detail our investigations so as not to help the modding community find ways around it.

For your concern. You can check this post: http://forums.xbox.com/29865285/ShowPost.aspx

Hope this helps.

Re: OK, this is ridiculous!!!
I read that. I bought it new for my son in the spring. It got the RROD in the summer (surprisingly) and I took it to a local guy who said he could fix it. He said the fan that Microsoft used to cool it was too weak and he put a stronger fan in. That was all. And it worked perfectly. Now it's banned? For fixing a known problem that Microsoft could have easily fixed themselves?

Nice.

You should have let us fix the console.

Dude, it took 3 weeks the first time, I sent 3 different consoles in and 3 weeks was the shortest turn time, which is ridiculous. When I heard about somebody local offering to fix it, I jumped on that.

I understand. But this is what you get back for tampering the console. It's written on the console's manual not to tamper the console.

Microsoft is very strict with this because if they will let modded consoles to play online, all they'll do is just ruin the game and the experience. The modding community might also find a way to hack peoples account.

So think of it that it's for everyone's safety.

StormShadow,

I read the terms of service agreement and it CLEARLY states that opening the console voids the WARRANTY. Nowhere is it stated that I would be banned from Xbox live for having my console repaired LEGALLY. If Microsoft could fix a problem that seems very easy for everybody else to fix, we wouldn't even have had this problem.
