Just wondering how you get ranked in this game

PPH = Points per hour (Flags/Kills/Air Strikes, etc;)
Medals = 5 kills without dying, heal 4 people, kill 4 people with same clip, etc;
Points = Points accumulated.

There are various points where these three items intersect and that is your rank.

Getting medals is the hard part, unless you cheat like alot of players do. But the challenge is fun and can be done if you are up to it.

What good is it for a man to gain the whole world, and yet lose or forfeit his very self?

Re: BF2 Tips

For all those snipers out there, if you shoot someone or something, move straight away after the shot, dont camp and snipe, it'll only get you killed!

E.g. - Backstab, hiding in a building with a sniper near the main bridge, you take a shot, you take another shot (same guy) third time round, he comes up behind you! theres the hopes of your medal, scattered across the wall.

E.g.2 - Backstab, hiding in a building with a sniper near the main bridge, you take a shot, YOU RUN! out of that building, and as far away as you can without being noticed, then take another shot, etc.... then come your medal, for so many kills without dying, so many sniper kills, etc...

Odd. My case sats 24 players. This is technically the only game I play now, however I'd like to know how I went from a master Sergeant with 2 medals to a private with 0 medals overnight.... Maybe a new stat glitch brought on by the patch?
Yes they fixed that, and no more lag!! I was a master sergent (i thought that was good) and they kept on getting reset. But now i am a 1st luetenet with 6 medels and i have no worries! great game Big Smile [:D]

Re: BF2 Tips
Crouch!
You almost always do more damage and have better accuracy from a crouched position.
This applies to ALL weapons and especially to the Support Machinegun, which is usually pretty erratic.

Don't forget your Pistol!
Many times when confronted by more than one enemy I have mowed down the first guy and hit the 2nd a couple of times when my clip goes empty. Switching to the pistol quickly allows you to finish off that 2nd guy and get some breathing room to reload your primary weapon.

Grenades!
Don't forget your grenades! When confronted with many situations involving blind corners, a grenade, even a smoke grenade, can often make a big difference in getting the drop on the enemy! Just be sure to tell your teammates, but don't be so close the enemy can hear you say it.

Sniper Hipshots!
When you select a sniper, in the online game or just anytime, use the trick with scotch tape to improve your aim!
Take a small piece of tape and put it on your TV screen. Then switch to a weapon with a good crooshairs and mark the exact ceter of the crosshair with a marker. Now when you play a sniper you'll still have a crosshair to use when you're not zoomed in! This can be handy if you find yourself confronted by an enemy in close quarters, as the Rifle is STILL a one-shot-kill weapon even when not zoomed.

Humvee quick switch!
When driving toward an enemy flag, remember at the last second to press the black button. Usually you'll switch to a wepon mount and this can help you to really mow down a bunch of surprised enemies with 50 cal fire.

Re: BF2 Tips
The arab shotgun (for engineers) has a very slow rate of fire. Make sure that first shot counts, or you'll get ripped by by an assault rifle or SMG before you can get your 2nd shot off. Not sure if all non-American shotguns are like this, though. If you're an engineer on the arab team, make sure you use your pistol if you get into a long gun battle.

Also, place landmines on roads leading to a flag, not around the flag itself. No one expects to run over a mine in the middle of nowhere. On Backstab, try to get mines on the main roads leading out of the enemy base, and in the road near the artillery strike.

On Bridge Too Far, place mines on the road between the enemy spawn and the bridge itself, but not real close to the bridge.

Sanders here. I wrote the information about classes and positioned weapons.
Yes, this guide was written back in the day only for the demo (which is no longer online) and I have no intention of picking up this version, holding out for BF2:MC on the 360, so I do not plan to make any updates. However, I have no problem making a guide for BF2:MC (360). I have done other guides on the forums for other games, most notably Full Spectrum Warrior, which are sadly gone.

Thanks for posting opinions in a thread already titled "BF2 Tips", instead of going and making your OWN thread about why you hate the game.
And have fun with that whole "Area 51" thing.
And it takes less than a minute to load into a multiplayer game on my Xbox, dunno about yours.

Yeah, the developers are trying for this wierd idea called "semi-realistic fun" It's loosely based on the concept of not actually having a rechargable forcefield and using tactics instead of plasma guns.
I know! I know! It's a really "out there" concept! I was as mistrustfull as you the day I bought it. Much like you, I furrowed my protruding brow when I started to realize that I wasn't supposed to shoot EVERYBODY. I also stopped mouth breathing long enough to mutter the word "Allies?" and "Hot...swap?".
I guess I can see why you don't like this game.

Headshots dont count in this game. <<< thats a tip.

Always aim for the biggest part of the opponents body, their stomach/chest area. What do you mean, you know some cheats for medals. I hope you mean offline, becuase the cheating is getting outta control online.

Re: BF2 Tips

A few things in regard to some of the posts I've read in this thread:

You don't show up on the map unless you're shooting. Run till your heart's content.

This game is not bad. In fact, it's the opposite of bad, which is good.

The most you can have in a game is 23, although the server lists say 24.

Headshots do count in this game. Shoot someone in the chest and watch them drop in about half of an AR clip. Shoot them in the head and they drop in 2-3 shots.

And here's my tip: Always drop to one knee while shooting, and if possible go prone. It will greatly increase your accuracy, which in this game increases your firepower. Watch, your enemies drop 2-3 times quicker!

And ResistingNix, that sniper and scotch tape trick is about the best tip I've heard where this game is concerned. Kudos.

Re: BF2 Tips

Well, I would agree with you, except for the fact that you're wrong. Have you played this game? Go try it with a friend. Zoom in on your minimap and have them on the other team, shooting. You will see a red dot that gives away their location. It happens when they use any weapon, even grenades.

Re: BF2 Tips

I must be getting into all of the rooms where people are running these experiments because I've died too many times with teammates only a few feet away who never fire a shot or I feel like I'm the only one actually doing anything.  Fart, if we're ever on the same team and I'm getting shot up, drop the camera and help a brother out!

Seriously, though, I remember having this argument when the demo was out.  It was true back then.  It's still true today.  Mini-map or large map, field of vision shows that red dot.  I always keep my eye on that thing just in case I've got a sniper who doesn't have the thumbs to press team talk to warn his team that he's about to GPS and I've had plenty of guys kill me from the side or behind me w/out ever showing up on the map.

To keep this thread on track, here's a tip:  Never fire at the propeller while you're still IN the chopper.  You'll kill us both.  A guy last night could have used this tip while we were storming "The Black Gold."

Now, let's get back to asking those "360 release date" and "backwards compatibility" questions!
