No, this isn't a new or updated game with new code. This is the classic Halo: Combat Evolved. The coolness is that you can download it over Xbox LIVE--you don't have to mess with a disc.

How awesome is that?  So awesome.

I mean, God forbid Bungie expend any effort into this.

Because effort isn't cool, right?

I doubt Bungie had any real say in this. It was probably mostly MS's decision since I think they still own the rights to Halo.

Re: Welcome!
I hope someone up high is reading this thread.

Without online play, this whole thing is stupid.

What is the point of paying more for something I can get for less without even getting online. Bungie and Microsoft need to see the bigger picture. Put it on the marketplace for $20, and I'm sure that you'd sell MORE numerical copies, and bring in more.

Who cares if it's as worse networking than Halo2, please, make this online.

I think Bungie knows that it's secret success was actually Halo:CE, please give it back to the fans who have been here since 01-03.. you owe us from Halo 2 and Halo 3.

So they are going to offer us original xbox games, that are WORSE than they were at retail (cant play demos, trailers and who knows what else) AND charge more for them? I wonder if anyone from MS has been into there local gaming store, it really isn't all that hard to find the Xbox game you're looking for, especially in the preowned section or on the internet. The pricing is madness! I can get Halo for £4 in my local game store and MS want £10 for there downloaded version which is actually worse than the retail version! Surprise [:O] Someone at MS is smoking WWAAAAYYYY to much pot!

As many other people have said. Re-releasing games without updating any code is at best moronic. I understand that offering consumers as many choices as possible is always a good thing. I just don't see how this is going to be successfull. Take a look at the poll over at Xbox360fanboy.com Last time I checked it 59% of people said they would only buy the games if they were enhanced (live, achievements, updated code). Not updating Halo:CE with Live support and Achievements is a travesty. Good luck Microsoft, looks like you're going to need it. This could have been so awesome but you chose the short, easy route and you are *** over your customers in the process.

Couldn't have put it better myself. MS will end up with a *** of a buggy system. I would prefer they fixed the issues with MSN from the last update before they released this cheap, overpriced rubbish.

Definatly, i can get it for the same price (4pounds), i think theres actually a bundle with Halo: CE and Halo2 for 10pounds. I for sure will NOT be purchasing any of these if theres no HD, Live, achievements, ablity to play your own music on (and actually turns off in-game music), being able to bring up the guide, go on IM while playing them because without them, theres no point in purchasing these. I realli dont mind going to the shop to buy them instead of paying more to get them from Marketplace with no extras! I think i'd rather get up and change the disk, than pay 10pounds to not get up. Dont know what MS are thinking, pretty much the richest company in the world, and this is what we get? Think they could be at least updating IM too. And adding other realli cool things to dashboard. Obviously not..... Sad [:(]

After reading you guys comments, I feel like a dork. I think it's a good idea and I am wiolling to participate especially since I can't find Fable the Lost Chapters anywhere and I have been interest in Psychonuats for a while but havenb't found the game for twenty-five dollars.

I think it's a good idea. Sony and Nintendo are doing the same thing. I wonder if their members are complaining this loudly.

Re: Welcome!

Okay, this may have been asked once already but there's 3+ pages of stuff and I can't be bothered to read through it all, to be completely honest =P

Questions: Achievements? (already asked but not seen an answer) And 50Hz mode? I have Halo on disc already, but can't play it without having to hook my 360 up to a TV, since I prefer to use a VGA cable. If it does work on VGA cables and gets the same "HD!" treatment as say... Dig Dug (nice and HD in that each pixel is now made up finely of about 50 smaller pixels), I might be sold.

Re: Welcome!

Without online play being added to certain games or achievements I don't see why this is being done when there are still hundreds of original Xbox games that are not backwards compatible that should be a bigger priority than doing something like this.  Alright I do know why..... $$$ Indifferent [:|]

I have been fine with other marketplace stuff that a lot of people have not been happy about but this is finally my breaking point.  I personally own 103 Xbox games that have yet to be made BC and by no means am I anywhere near owning every single Xbox game so this is just pathetic IMO.

Trixie stated on the first page that the game code is not modified. It is essentially the original game without anything added. Therefore most people would assume that means no achievements.

Well, I guess I could say the same about you. I used to post here all the time back when Dead Rising was really big and everybody was trying to get the achievements. Haven't been here in ages though. I saw a link to this thread on another forum (not Bungie) and decided to sign in and share my two cents.

My two cents are... MS SUCKS for not adding any additional content. I agree with the boycott of Xbox Originals! Of course, it's the perfect scam, you know. MS isn't putting any actual work into this other than throwing it up on their servers. It's pure profit. Why bother with silly things like achievements when the very first $15 is money in their pocket since there isn't even a licensing fee to make up for?

Re: Welcome!
All MS has managed to achieve is **** off the H1 community. Making a game like H1 available for download while adding nothing to it to justify a purchase that most H1 fans have already made is idiotic. All it does is take up hard disk space and you pay just as much or more for a discless game.

stupidest idea on microsoft's part. making these games not 360 aware, or games like halo 1 that doesnt have online, ( and not giving it online) is the stupidest things. microsoft would sell x50 copies of these games if there was and why the *** is microsoft selling, "fable", and not "fable: the lost chapters" the lost chapters is an extended version of the whole game. microsoft are stupid sometimes, don't no how to make the consumer happy.

this is just another scam to get people to buy old games just because u can download them off the *** marketplace. what the ***. who the *** is lazy enough to not put a fregin disc in the console. oh wow u can download it. what the ***. this is retarded. i WOULD have never put this feature up without fixing things, like online for halo 1. just buy the damn game cheaper at the store, and use backwards compadability. this is just another scam from microsoft to make u buy old games, because u can download them. wow must be cool right?

Honestly, when I first heard about this I thought these games would be updated with achievements and maybe visual enhancements. But now that I found out that it's the same old games that you can buy for cheap at a store, I won't be spending a penny on these "Xbox Originals".

Way to go MS, No [N].

Yeah.....I beat Halo, beat Fable, played the crap out of Burnout and so on. I want some replay value for these old games. The gameplay was fun, but the gum lost its taste. At least some visual updates would be appreciated. I don't feel like playing these games in 480p.

This is honestly the stupidest idea I've ever seen from Microsoft. Now you guys are seriously just trying to get some quick cash. I would've bought Halo if it had multiplayer since every way possible to play Halo 1 online lags bad (Halo PC, XBConnect). Only people who will possibly buy these games are the ones who don't already own retail copies of the games.

No.  I have absolutely never heard of playing a game just "for fun".

Why why WHY do people assume that just cause we're dissapointed that a certain game has no achievements that that's the ONLY reason we play them?  Achievements are an added incentive, and they're hella fun to unlock - but that's certainly not the only reason we play games.

I don't mean to single you out, but after reading countless posts that say the exact same thing and paint 360's to be nothing more than achievement machines to some of us... c'mon, just use a little common sense.

GS: Will achievements, in-game messaging, and the rest of the Xbox 360 trapping be integrated somehow?

AG: It will perform just like a backward-compatible game, so you'll have limited access to those things. You'll be able to hit the guide button to get into the dashboard, but you won't have access to in-game messaging and things like that.

Ha, ha, ha.
