read this intresting story, wanted to know what you guys think.

Looking for someone to blame over the whole XBLA GoldenEye fiasco? Try Nintendo! Sources within Microsoft who were very close to the project (and who also pointed us towards the above, alleged screen) have told us the game was canned not because of disagreements between the two parties, but because of Nintendo boss Satoru Iwata, who believes that, as a title which appeared on a Nintendo console, GoldenEye shouldn't be made available on a competitor's system. This despite a proposed deal from Microsoft that would have seen not only GoldenEye released on the Virtual Console, but other, unspecified Rare games (Jetpac? Sabre Wulf?) as well. How very upsetting. Before you set your tasers to "hate", though, remember, this is coming from one side of a two-sided story.

Each console manufacturer would be highly unlikely to let a game they published get to their competitors. Whats true for Nintendo is also true for Microsoft or Sony.

(This is directed at the obvious Nintendo hate that'll get thrown around ere long.)

As we mentioned in our Friday rumor report on the currently axed port of GoldenEye: 007 for Xbox Live Arcade, our mole revealed the best chance for a revival was enough popular support from gamers. Since the story broke, there's been a bit of a rallying call amongst fans to get the three names involved in this -- Nintendo, Microsoft and Rare -- through the expected online petitions. Such a move almost never works, but the amount of signatures accompanying them already is encouraging.

There are signs that people are listening; check out what we found listed in Major Nelson's twitter updates: "My inbox has a lot of 'Save Goldeneye' emails. I will be sure topass them on to the right people."

I loved this game on the N64 and would love to see this on XBLA with online play and achievements.  Funny that this game was loaded with "achievements" of its own!  (Getting special cheats from beating each stage in a certain amount of time)

Perfect Dark was good, but Goldeneye was a lot more mainstream.

They better do something or im going to be pissed off.  The best shooter of all time has slipped away from our hands.

Microsoft can make it happen, they are so powerful, they should just bribe Nintendo.

Seriously, this is silly that this game was so close to being released and then cancelled. Microsoft and Nintendo could make a ton on money on this and they're just going to throw it all away. Heck, I'm sure that they could charge us all the same price as one of the Xbox Originals and we'd all still buy it.

I think this is one Live game that would instantly top whatever Live Arcade charts there are. I would buy it instantly, and I still have it for the '64. Online multiplayer and smooth framerate is all i'd need to buy it again. The only Live Arcade game that i'd even think of buying at the moment in fact, and i'm sure many many people feel the same.

Please Microsoft, sort a deal with Nintendo.

sad enough they dont have this on arcade. personnaly has to be one of the best games to me. i actually still do play this sometimes. it would be awesome on live. Especially if it was on live so we could all shoot ea other on that game. and maybe even a campaign multiplayer? i wish. maybe it will happen?

 

also there is going to be Duke Nukem on XBLA i saw it on IGN

I'll be pretty upset at Nintendo if they dont let Microsoft put Goldeneye on XBox Live.

Rare should just release a full size game with PDZ, Banjo, and Goldeneye on one disc. I'd buy it in a hartbeat.
