i have posted at the xbox cheater watch web site where i know people have reported cheaters before.

when i get home tonight i will download the greasemonkey script into my firefox browser so i can prove with "achievement timestamps" that he cheated.

what more can i possibly do?  and dont tell me to wait for more time.  i have been actively trying to have this done for a month now and i havent even heard a reponse from anyone of authority to even give me some company line like "we are looking in to it".  so the time is up.  if I (an active and legit gamer) go out of my way to do YOUR jobs for you and point out a cheater, then i expect you to atleast look into my claim.

pretty soon if this guy keeps up his gamesaving he will be in the top 10 on the leaderboards on mgc.net and the people who actually worked hard to also be in that top 10 deserve better that that.  we just got rid of the swindler from that list, so lets not let another non-legit gamer hang out there for many months before something is done.

You have actually done all that you can.  From what I know, Stepto is the guy to contact for this stuff.  A side hobby of mine used to look out for gamersavers and the like.  I've blogged and written articles about it before.  MS is not revealing exactly what criteria they are using to decide who they reset or not.  A few dozen have been reset, but there's hundreds or thousands more.  I use the Greasemonkey script too, and in fact I helped get it out there for people to use by contacting the writer of it myself.  There's not much else to do.  I've learned to not get mad about gamesavers anymore.  I used to get fired up about it.  I don't want to derail Syntack's thread so if you want to respond, make it in a PM please.

Thanks for the guide, I'll make sure my next report is a 'good report' Wink [;)]

I have a question though, if I report a thread from the General Forums from Belgium, will all moderators see this report or will only those from Belgium see it ?

I'm here to attest that Report works!  And surprisingly it works fairly quickly.  I posted a couple reports late last night and this morning.  Surprise!  The troll's posts are completely wiped from the forum and the annoying topics are locked!  Boom.  Excellent work keeping the forums clean.

I'm no Moderator, but I'd assume that there would just be a single reporting forum to make life easier for the ModSquad...

Yep, there would in fact be an active Dutch moderator that I know of. If your report doesn't get handled, try PMing him. =)

Re: THANKS

hes right xbl does make enough what upsets me like it does everyone else is that im a regular guy navy guy actually a dad and the whole nine yards i have a regular internet conn. from cox cable in VA. high speed good enough for gaming but im not really a fanatic i get on when i can particularly GRAW 2 anyway, i would like to think that im pretty damn good i crush cats everyday without being a couch potato. im talking 25 and 5 games 30 and 8 whatever all the time with  or against damn good players who shine on different maps as well but every ounce and a while u will get in a room or others may enter mine and litterally destroy the competition.  I and others that i may have played with for hours will litterally watch guys do what we honest guys believe to be the impossable.  I dont even complain anymore.  Question .   what exactly are u saying we should all just stop playing and report those people?   Question 2.   Is it true that guys can cross the networks between cpu and xbox and play using a keyboard and mouse while others just use an xbox controler? I know this forum has prob. bean around  while but get at me! thanks guys!

I believe I've found a very serious issue that needs to be addressed...   Someone has been stealing XBL accounts (i know because i've been getting spam from various friends over the course of some time now. he's claiming to be giving out free MS points (like 15000).  So, this is a big hit on MS if what I see's true.

Basically I came here because filing any sort of complaint would prove redundant.

Sites like that can be eliminated using Google's Anti-Phishing Tool. Be sure to use that when you see any phishing sites like ones you mentioned, and perhaps tell your friends about it if they ever inquire about these so-called 'Free' MS Points sites.

It really is too good to be true.

Re: Reporting Guide (Forums, Phishing, Username, and XBL)
Great guide, but I have another question for the OP or any other mods who might be listening. How do I report someone who is personally phishing me for information?

I know it sounds unbelievable but this guy started talking to me in a game of catan, he started to ask me about myself and what my interests were, I told him classic gaming. After the game he sends a FR and I accept, then he starts to tell me that he too is a classic gaming conniseur like myself and that like myself he also focuses on super nintendo games.

I found it a little odd he didnt mention it during the game, but I left it at that. Now he is constantly messaging me wanting me to email him a list of my games so we can compare collections.

He may or may not be trying to get my personal info but here is the way I see it:

He asked what my intrests were and later told me his were similar, now he wants my email address and a more pinpoint list of things that I hold near and dear to my heart. It just doesn't feel right to me.

Im not removing him from my list (Im not going to give him the information he wants of course) mainly because I want to be really, really sure before I go reporting someone.

If I do decide he needs to be reported what do I do? Whats the next step? any help and feedback would be appreicated.

@Lord Richter: If you decide to take action, I'd suggest that you would just file a complaint on him (Text and Communications) and then block all communications.

Interesting situation but I wouldn't be overly concerned yet.  I would, however, politely decline the personal email exchange and use Forum PM or Xbox messaging.  If he continues to press from there or goes to things like phone numbers, mail address...etc at that point I'd probably let him know he's stepping over the line.  If he disappears without a word right after you tell him that, report.

Re: Reporting Guide (Forums, Phishing, Username, and XBL)
This is about innocent threads post once or twice vs vulgar threads which are all over the forums.
My topic was "Too Many Threads On this Topic",it was pointed out to me in less than 24hrs that there was a pinned thread on this topic, then it was locked.Even if there is 1 or 2 other threads on this topic, why lock them when there are plenty of topics which have over 50 threads on them for mods to check out. There are also 50+ threads with gamers using vulgarity in the titles and content that go untouched for days.Where my original thread barely went 24hrs and had nothing vulgar or unsavory in it,and it was locked.
Do mods pick and choose what needs to be locked?
Do they favor 1 forum member over another?
I personally found a thread with the word BS spelled out in the title,it disappeared only after I pointed it out to one of those guys that had a check mark in his gamercard. It seems that mods or mod minions could very easily just put vulgar words in the search and find more threads like these, they could even put in words that ppl use to represent those unsavory words in the search. Most of us know the euphisms that can bypass the filter, and if you put them in the search you'll more than likely run into a ess H eye tea load of them.
Only after locking threads that deserve locking should a mod start picking apart the one they see by users they may not like for one reason or another.I am sure the threads that have vulgar 3 word stories or are degrading anyone of a certain race, gender,or creed will always keep the mods busy enough, where as those that have decent input and no arguing should be left alone.
Why lock innocent threads, while the ones that are completely against everything in the CoC go untouched?
Don't say that the mods are too busy to find unsavory threads and ones that are decent are easier to find.Maybe the mods should utilize the search themselves, practice what they preach, find those threads like"this or that game is fecal" or "avoid so-n-so he glitches".There are so many of these type threads and lots of ways to word them.Use the search you too will find alot more than you see under active forums(which seems to be the only area mods actually check).

1. Having more than one topic on a single subject will clutter the first page of a forum and prevent users/guests from finding a subject that has been knocked to the second page.

2. No, all forum members are treated equally. There are a couple exceptions though, but they only apply if the user is well known and has been an active member for sometime:
- A forum member known for spam/vulgar posts will probably get a stricter punishment if he has just gotten back from a previous ban, or has recently got a talking to.
- A forum member who doesn't post off-topic, reports frequently and exhibits behavior not in his/her normal manner. He/she would probably get a warning or a talking to about the post, but if the attitude continues he/she would receive the same punishment as another user.

3. If you search those terms most of them have been filtered, aren't in an attacking post, are months old, or have already been taken care of. If they haven't been taken care of they usually will be, or you can do your part and report them. :)

4. If a thread is against the CoC and a mod sees it, it will be locked. Here's a post on why your "innocent threads" may have been locked.

5. They do, and no, they aren't able to catch every thread. Even if they search, the search doesn't always show the offensive threads right away. For the amount of mods we have, the amount of threads created each day, and considering the fact that the mods do this voluntarily.. I think they do a very nice job.

The answer is...
1. Having more than one topic on a single subject will clutter the first page of a forum and prevent users/guests from finding a subject that has been knocked to the second page.

But there originally was only one with that title, and it had a good on topic converation from users who did not know the topic was covered in a obscure thread in a stack of pinned threads, and it was locked way before the second one appeared,so it was the only thread on the topic for around 20hrs in the active section..Maybe you should make it so all pinned threads are titled with a bit of the topic included and are pinned so they are always on the 1st page of the active forums section. The link I was referred to had no mention of Repetitive Threads or Too Many Threads On These Topics,in its title.

LOOK here first. Frequent and commonly asked questions.
That was the title of the thread I was referred to.It should be titled
Look Here 1st,Topics Previously Covered/FAQ's
and if it is to be the 1st then it should be pinned 1st on the list of Active Topics, and it must be possible to make it so that all vital pinned threads stay on the 1st page,so that it will be what new users see when they click on Active Topics.

Re: Reporting Guide (Forums, Phishing, Username, and XBL)
Ok, I didn't know exactly what you were referring to originally.

Now, your thread was most likely locked so the forum didn't become cluttered (as stated originally). This isn't a bad thing though, so I wouldn't take it personally.

----
I don't believe you can adjust the ordering of pinned topics, I think they are listed based upon the date that they recieved their last pinning. Now these topics may lose their "sticky" and if they do they will have to recieve another pin in order to stay on the top of the forum.

As a side note: I don't think having a "Look Here First" thread would really have to be first on the list of pinned topics. If a user doesn't notice it when it's second or third down the list, I don't think they'll notice it if it was the first.

Its been a long time since "Moderator" (AcdBulls) let the forum go by itself, there is no control about what is talked about or what kind of words are used.

The forum is a Spanish one, so the Word Filter its no good enough to stop rude, agrgressive, harassing and piracy comments and offcourse this leads to a countless off topic posts.

Hope this situation can be fix, and put a Real Moderator in charge.

Try sending a Private Message explaining your problem to another Spanish speaking moderator like Kyu Odinson. Unfortunately, the regulars at the Xbox Mexico forum have had the same problem with the lack of Spanish-speaking moderators.

Hopefully he'll be able to sort out any problems though. Good luck.
