Re: I miss ESPN NFL 2K5
^^^^don't forget their arena football league game.  The true version of 2k5 was the xbox version.  There were reports the NFL/NFLPA wasn't happy about the $19.99 price point(something about their cut being smaller with every game sold).  That was suppose to be the final straw for the original NFL/NFLPA-Ea agreement which later became a hoax bid

Wow I can't believe NFL would be so greedy for money for even as something as family entertainment.

In NBA 2K9, you can go and download user created/uploaded rosters for FREE. (I'm on a Silver account)

Can this be done with NFL 2K5? Or do I have to pick up one of those cords?

I also miss NFL 2K5. Custom Soundtracks, on xbox. Great graphics for its time. Miss $19.99 price too.

I bought my copy for 25 cents or 99 cents at Gamestop. It's backwards compatible and people still play online. It's not that much different from APF 2K8. Go buy it.

You do have to buy a special chord to download recent rosters. But you can kiss your warranty good bye if you do do it.

I'm on my 21'st season of 2K5.  I've never simulated a single regular season game.  Over 400 hours of gameplay and I still play it at least every couple of weeks.  Heck, I have more fun in the offseason mode.  Restructuring contracts, signing players, the NFL Draft.  NFL 2K5 forever!

If cars had the same development as computers, they would cost $100, get a million miles per gallon, and explode once a year.

I bought this game last year becase so many people was talking about how raw it is, and when I got it -- I was just surprised by the realism.  It is, by far, the best football game I've played.

Amen brother.  Of course, I mostly boycott them for their crappy, cookie cutter, "roster updates" they pass off as a football game every year.

EA has exclusive license until like 2015, they just renewed it a year or two ago. Yes 2K5 is the best football game ever, Madden stole a bunch of *** from it then claimed it as their own.

I to refuse to play Madden same as 1999 edition.

I don't know about anyone else but i was very disappointed with APF 2K8 since it didn't have number ratings. But back on point i had around 20 hours of gameplay because i was stuck to BF2 at the time i wish i had played 2k5 longer because their won't be another football game like it.But who knows maybe Madden 10 will be smart and bring back Tony Bruno.

I hate the exclusive as much as anyone, but aim your shots at the NFL for approaching EA AND for wanting just a one-company exclusive.  That wasn't EA's choice, as much as it pains me to admit that.

2K5 is a brilliant game of football.  It's only rival at this time for ME is NFL Head Coach 09, which I played for about seven months straight and lost a lot of sleep to last year LOL.

I have TWO copies of 2k5...my 'play' copy and a backup copy, just because it's that good (and at .99 a copy, why not??).  I still enjoy playing it on my original Xbox rather than my 360 as well.  It just 'works' better.

Re: I miss ESPN NFL 2K5
Just to be able to play a newer game - and to try out the interesting Superstar mode - I picked up Madden 09 last August. I was done with it by October had traded it in.

Surprisingly, after then going back to 2k5 I wasn't turned off by the 4+ year old graphics at all, as is usually the case once spoiled by the latest eye candy.

2k5 - like most sports games with "dynasty modes" - still has a lot of stat errors that get worse as you play more seasons (and I've had some freezing glitches at the end of a season occasionally that couldn't be avoided without starting a new file), but at least it is so much more polished than Madden 09 is. The Superstar mode in 09 felt unfinished, like it was tacked on near the end of production, and then I found out it wasn't the first year for that mode and had basically gone unchanged for 2-3 versions. That made it horrible.

You're not kidding!  Madden's Superstar Mode was an absolute BLAST to play on Madden 07 (with S. Alexander on the cover).  My wife and I played that a football RPG for months!  But it actually de-evolved on 08 and 09!  We were ticked off.  And I hate the 'weapons' thing and am glad that's been omitted from Madden 10.

I still love my 2K5.  I'm on my 21'st season with over 400 hours of total gameplay.  However...

After hearing about the online franchise mode in Madden 10, with the ability to manage my team from ANYWHERE.  I hate to admit it, but I will pick up Madden this year, to play franchise mode with my pals.

The one thing I want in online franchises/leagues - which is yet to happen - is the ability to have AI teams. In that, if it's just one friend and I, I don't want to play in a 2-team league (or 8-team or whatever). I want to play in a 30-team league with full 16-game schedule, but I don't want to have most of the league be strangers or have to find a league that is douche-free, etc.

Ideally, you could even set it such that another person can always play against your team (ie, if I'm the Raiders, any other person in my league can play whomever the Raiders are playing against each week). This is something I used to do all the time offline in both NFL and NHL games (until EA got rid of season mode in NHL).

I want to be able to entirely replicate what I can do offline, online.

But that's getting off topic for the thread.
