Re: No Audio at All post-NXE for HDMI connection to BenQ G2400W Monitor (via headphone jack)
I have the exact same monitor (BenQ G2400W), hooked up through HDMI (official 360 cords) and am having the same issue. No audio after NXE update. Very frustrating. :(

Don't know why it was on that website SeraWolf, but I am sure a member there likely got by calling Xbox Support on the phone.

So the updated steps we have that have already been mentioned to some degree around the Xbox.com forums are:

1. Turn off your Xbox 360 Console.
2. Disconnect any storage devices from the console such as the Hard Drive and any Memory Units
3. Turn on your Xbox 360 Console. See if your audio is working.
4. Re-attached your Hard Drive. This will then restart the console
5. Check again if your audio is now working.

In addition, please make sure that you have tried doing the troubleshooting steps in the below support article.

Let us know if this helps to resolve your issue.

It's nice to see that this work-around has helped some people here (too bad not for myself), and I hope that Microsoft Support is noticing this problem as a major one to fix for the first patch.

The unplug HDD don't work for me even with unplugging my USB key from the console or wires of pad. I will try again tonight but I doubt it's going to change anything, I want microsoft to fix this today so we can play finally >_< !!! Microsoft need to buy better Q&A department and listen to beta testers.

Re: No Audio at All post-NXE for HDMI connection to BenQ G2400W Monitor (via headphone jack)
I posted this earlier in a different thread this morning but most of the discussion is happening here I thought a 2nd post might be in order: This may or may not work for you but worth a go. I have everything setup with HDMI and NXE installed fine BUT I had a similar problem with no sound after (I think it was) last years fall update. Picture fine but no sound. From what I can tell there was an issue with the HDMI "handshake" between the AV receiver and the 360. I stumbled on a fix on avforums website. They suggested this: Turn everything off. Unplugging the HDMI cable(s). Turning on the TV and AV receiver if connected through one. Fitting the composite or component cable to the 360 and TV and turning on the 360. Check picture and sound are ok using that. Turn off everything again, disconnect the composite cable and reconnect the HDMI cable / AV receiver. DO NOT TURN THE 360 ON. Turn on the TV (and if connected) AV Receiver BEFORE turning on the 360. Wait a minute or so for the TV to do what it does regarding it's internal setup. THEN turn on the 360. This may or may not reset the 360 > TV HDMI handshake. Like I said this happened once before with me before the NXE update so the problem may be different this time, but it's worth a go. Good Luck with it.

Same problem for me on the 24" BenQ, no sound through HDMI.

Also when choosing resolution no longer displays the 720p/1080i/1080p that it used to, displays a long list of PC resolutions from 640x480 all the way to 1920x1080.

Re: No Audio at All post-NXE for HDMI connection to BenQ G2400W Monitor (via headphone jack)
I've found a method to let the monitor 'speak' again in a chinese forum.

For example ,your monitor is G2400W,then;

1,turn off the console, connect to the hdmi via
2,swith the monitor to DVI or VGA,then wait several minutes(about 5 minutes or more),then switch back to the HDMI

OK,you now can hear the sound now,and this will last until you shut down the console, which means the next time you turn your console on,you'll have to do the same thing, that's better than no sound ,right??

Besides,I heard that, some tester report this issue to MS during before release, and MS maybe ignored that, and I've heard none of the official comments about this issue, does MS really want to fix it or just abandon us who get this sick problem?

Thanks for not reading the 72 messages before you. That solution has been posted at least 3 times in this thread and as the majority of us have pointed out, it doesn't work for everyone.

The Screen Res you are seeing is when you have a VGA cable connected, it would seem to me that the xbox has defaulted to showing the vga (vga carries NO sound) screen and settings hence no sound and in some cases no display.

It would seen that the "lucky 10,000+" people who got a early copy of the NXE was just a way of guinea pigging its users.
if a "Jobsworth" doing then do it correctly.

Bump.

Same problem. Installed the NXE update and no sound when I use HDMI. The hard drive trick does work for me, but when you shut the console down and restart it there is no sound again. Since i'm not gonna remove and re-install my hard drive every time i startup my Xbox, i'm just using the regular AV cables for now. It looks like crap.

I really hope they put out an update to fix this problem soon. Its completely unacceptable.

That's weird. Did you wait long enough before switching? I waited about 8 minutes.

Tried all the other tricks so far and nothing worked, what's the exact procedure here? This trick has incomplete instructions:

1. Ensure console is turned off
2. Connect HDMI
3. Select DVI/VGA input from monitor
4. Wait 5+ minutes
5. Select HDMI input from monitor

This is missing a few steps:
?. Turn on the monitor
?. Ensure monitor is in HDMI mode
?. Turn on Xbox360

Where do these steps go?

Thanks for your help.

Ahh, was doing it in the wrong order, i was turning my xbox on at the same time that i switched back to HDMI.

Mine works as well if u have ur xbox running for 5 mins while ur monitor is on vga/dvi then switch across.

Benq G2400W - same here, no sound via HDMI! Damn, my console is useless to me right now as I don't have any other sound interfaces to plug into. Not that I wanted NXE so badly, but my choice for today was: No Live or No sound.

LOL, HDMI by all means is supposed to be XBox360's most important and top priority Output interface since it was added a couple of years after the console launch. And look what we got...
Anyway, rephrasing Microsoft's adware "Millions of XBox360 just got broken by using the power of software" :-)

P.S. Definitely, we need the patch.
