Yes. I know that. A lot of chips will be revised or already have been. But that's neither here or there. The major changes have been with the CPU/GPU combo which has been the root of the problem.

Re: How to find a full 65nm Jasper console…
My "Falcon" I bought exactly 1 year ago just RROD today.  Fortunately I bought the extended warranty and went into Best Buy to get a new Jasper.  Well, I found a 60gb Model with the Kung-Fu Panda and  Lego Indian Jones bundle. Fable II was on the back of the box and the box said it was Team FDOU Lot 0843x and date 10-20-2008.  I figured I had a decent shot at a Jasper here, everything checked out except it was 3 days earlier than these posts.
When I got it home and unboxed I was furious. I don't even think it is a Falcon, yet alone a Jasper. The power supply says 203W and 16.5 A. The back of the console under the date 10-20-2008 says 12v 16.5A.  The year old Falcon had a 175W power supply and was 14 amps. This new unit is also blowing hot air out the back at least as hot as the Falcon. Can this be a Jasper? What the heck is going on with the 10-20-2008 date, Lot 0843x, and Team FDOU why would I have a 203W power brick? And this was a completely new, closed, and wire theft wrapped box so I know it was not messed with, plus the information on the console is etched and new. This box also just arrived there, since I checked the week before and they had none. What could possibly be going on? What console version do I have?

Thanks

No, it isn't a Jasper, and there is no need to copy and paste your post in three different threads.

Re: How to find a full 65nm Jasper console…
I'm not sure if I want to buy one of these damn bundles or not. I intend to trade in the crap games immediately. That could be a problem if I ever have to return the console to the store. Anyone had this problem before? It doesn't seem like anyone is still offering true PRPs for the 360. Gamestop doesn't offer a PRP anymore either (according to a bunch of articles I've found online, at least), so I might as well just look at Walmart since they tend to have to most flexible return policy. I consider mircoshaft's warranty a last resort, FYI.

Re: How to find a full 65nm Jasper console…
I think Best Buy still has a great warranty, they just swapped it for me at full credit.

And I know I don't have a Jasper, but WHY would I have a 203W power supply and a 16.5A XBOX
if it was just made 10-20-8-2008? Even my year old xbox had a 175w power supply and this new one has louder fans and more heat coming out of it???

im not to sure what ver i have, arcade{ inbuilt hdmi} brought about half a year ago to replace old redringer

So my new xbox was only 1/2 year old and it broke, the dvd drive wouldnt read anything! so i sent it off to get repaired,i have it back now, and WOW they either replaced the dvd drive or the whole console!, because the dvd drive is so quiet compared to what it was, and the heat coming out the fan of the console is nowhere near as hot!!

The whole box in genral runs quieter and cooler then before :)

Valhalla is going to combine the chips into one chip that will be 65nm, not 45nm. The time frame for release is pretty wide but it goes from August to November, but ***, what do I know...

My "controller" is bigger than your "controller".

Well, I checked Walmart today. All they had was a CSON 839. I'll try Gamestop when I pickup GTA4 (PC), I guess.

Information I've seen on Valhalla points to a 45nm process for the combined chip but it might be 65nm, does anyone know for sure at this point?

I sure hope MS redoes the layout of the board for Valhalla. It's long overdo.

I believe Fusker is right about Valhalla. It is supposed to be a 65nm "super chip." The 45nm is going to come in later revisions, hopefully the last before the next Xbox is released.

I know of both conflicting reports on the internet. I am pretty confident it will be a 65nm dual chip. Expect 45nm in 2010

Re: How to find a full 65nm Jasper console…
Hey, thanks for all of the good work guys.

So are there any other external cues yet? I'm talking about things you can see when you have opened the box, but not the console.

Like, can you see anything in particular through the vents that indicate a Jasper?

You can see the 12.1A sticker through the hole in the box where the serial number is? Now that's awesome!

About the Pros/Elite Jaspers, do they also have the 256MB onboard MU? I'm just wondering if MS is using the same Jasper Mobo design on all boxes, I'm betting they are and Pros/Elites will now have a 'hidden feature'.

Just a heads up to everyone out there. I just bought 2 Arcades in Orange, CT - both were lot 843X, both were made on 10-23-08. In addition to that, the day of the week they were made on is "5," so I presumed nothing but the best.

Both were Falcons. Both had memory cards, 175W power supplies, and "14A" instead of the "12." Can you believe it? Falcons with 843X and 10-23-08? Jesus....

Unfortunately at this time, there's no way to know for sure unless you visually inspect the console and power supply for the plug and power rating.

Re: How to find a full 65nm Jasper console…
*NOTE*
Although it is possible Microsoft is only releasing Jasper consoles with 150W PSUs, this is also somewhat unlikely. As more consoles are found around the above manf. date it may become apparent that some Jasper consoles are shipping with 175W PSUs, just as early Falcon consoles shipped with 203W PSUs. Again, keep checking back for updated information in this post or read the discussion below.

@mrcur

Any clarifications already in this note?

thanks

Re: How to find a full 65nm Jasper console…
The 175W brick's plug can fit into the Falcon, Opus, or Jasper.  Jasper boxes have come packaged with the 150W or the 175W bricks.  This is confirmed.  A Jasper has came with a 175W brick.

Re: How to find a full 65nm Jasper console…
Good idea, that's definitely the most accurate way to tell a Jasper. At first glance, My console didn't look like a Falcon. It was marked 16.5a and 203w on the outside of the box. But it came with a 175w power supply and of course passed the grill inspection.

I take it you mean it does not have the mem displayed on the sys-mem dashboard. Is it a Jasper with  a 12.1A-Console/150W-PSU?
