God I would love to see Shenmue 2 on the marketplace, it would stir up the whole Shenmue 3 debate again, that would be the best thing about it.

Anyone heard what the last game is yet?

Turrican 1 & 2 for Xbox live arcade, someone for the love of god make it happen.

Excellent find Y and as for the previously stated "since they are ending the Originals ..." I guess the MS revamping of the download on demand service forces back open the pandora's box named "Why isn't Shenmue here?" I am pleased to see that the originals isn't dead just changed and now that they have changed it to what appears to be a "bigger" thing altogether and this my friends does keep my hope truckin' along =)

Also with much larger and complicated games arriving on Xbox Arcade, Shenmue showing up as an arcade game is becoming more of a possibility .

Anyone out there hearing anything on the grapevine? New leads? New contact info? New license inquiries ( I.P. hunting by other companies?) I've been occupied with Daddyhood and not as able to keep my ears my to the tracks.

Don't let that fool you though M.S./Sega/anyone with the cajones to pick up the franchise, even being covered in spit and drool and goodness knows what else I would be at the store on hour ONE to pick it up off the shelves and first in Q to download it digitally XD

Re: R: Re: R: Re: The Call for Shenmue volume2
this gakme will probly get released when we are grandads.
news report of record number of O.A.P's are buying (whatever console)

we will say its for our grandkids xmas lol

microsoft say, they have a vast catalogue of xbox orig's more updating n whatnot,
i only see around 5 lol.

i agree this should be a XBDL
or a doubleback a re-done for HD,

i dont think sega deal with yu, they have taken yu off the project
this is Yu's game, if sega wont make it, he should find someone ealse who would.
for example, - he makes a deal with some game company,
they re-make shenmue 1 & 2 for a download on XBL. as a testing ground,
makes lots o'money,
no probs we make shenmue 3

i got a dreamcast because of this game
bought the japanese (with subs) shenmue 2.

cought myself offguard the other day whistling the shenmue theme.

Re: R: Re: R: Re: The Call for Shenmue volume2
This could be a good sign since sega is taking notice of the games character

UK, October 7, 2009 - After an eight year absence, Shenmue star Ryo Hazuki is returning to videogames, with SEGA announcing the sailor-seeker as a playable character in forthcoming SEGA All-Stars Racing.

While it's not quite Shenmue III, fans should be thrilled to see Ryo make a comeback, the teenage star of one of SEGA's most divisive hits hitting the circuit on the motorcycle that featured in Shenmue I's climax. Ryo's All-Star special move sees the motorcycle switched for a forklift truck, which can then be used to charge through the pack.
SEGA All-Stars Racing brings the company's envious back catalogue of iconic characters together in a racer that's clearly indebted to Mario Kart, though the involvement of trusted developer Sumo Digital suggests it's going to be more than a cheap copycat.

Shenmue was an ill-fated game for SEGA's equally troubled Dreamcast console and its two instalments have as many detractors as they do plaudits – both titles recently failed to make it into our list of top Dreamcast games, although IGN UK was quick to jump to the game's defence.

The Call for Shenmue volume2
I'd buy one of MS's overpriced HDDs for my brand new 360 arcade unit, provided this game was available for purchase on Games on Demand.  I'd also love to see the first game on XBLA, and would also buy a HDD just for it.

Oh, well. Since I'm here I may as well add my voice to the many calls for more Shenmue! I bought the original for Dreamcast and loved it then when Shenmue II was cancelled in the US I bought a boot disc and got the UK version. I bought Shenmue II again when it came out on XBox, but wouldn't mind seeing it made available as a download for those who have never played it or have trouble finding it. Shenmue III? I must have missed that announcement but I'd buy that one, too, if it was available to me.

I will be buying the Sonic and Sega All Stars racing just for Ryo. I have 3 or 4 copies of Shenmue 2, on Dreamcast and Xbox, from several countries. I will gladly pay my hard earned money for anything and everything newly released that is Shenmue related. Give us Shenmue 1 and Shenmue 2 on Xbox live and we will pay for it. The fan base is rabid and hungry, give us something.

That line right there is worth gold, If all Shenmue fans bought that game even Sega would be shocked at the sales and it may take something like that for Sega to see we want Shenmue 3

Ill be picking the game up myself for exact same reason as you

Awesome. The only problem is that they aren't marketing the game at all. I didn't even know it existed until I saw the forum thread on Sega.com hinting at Ryo. I really believe they are testing the water for shenmue, but even if all Shenmue fans went in droves and bought it, unless they change their marketing strategy, no one but Sega hardcore fans will buy it. Just look at how great Sega All Star Tennis did, you can pick the game up for 2.99 at gamestop. Im going to buy multiple copies, as gifts for my deadbeat friends, etc. And when I get them, I will take a picture of us holding up our copies with a sign that says "for Shenmue 3" or something similar, and email it to everyone I can at Sega. That might be a good mass mailing idea actually...

its too far gone really, close to or just over a decade n still no show, games with ryo in may get people buying them games, thats all, only to get money, in return given false hope and missread lies.
i have given up on this game, until i see anything that is direct from microsft or sega. news letters, game demos, ect and 1 bad quantum singularity tv add Big Smile [:D]
if ther was a poll on sega, or here that people could sign or something, giving sega or whoever, a rough idea of the amount of games that would be sold, may motivate them to go ahead and finish this saga.

Re: The Call for Shenmue volume2
The last thread was 63 or 64 pages long. People bug Sega so much that Shenmue is almost a bad word. Everywhere you look Sega is forced to deal with fans screaming for Shenmue. The reasons that Shenmue 2 sold bad were the fault of the companies involved, not the consumer. The game was slid onto store shelves with almost no marketing behind it, and instead of getting a copy of Shenmue 1 to get you up to speed, you got a crappy cut together movie that captured none of the feeling of the game. The box art was ridiculously bad, embarrassing really. The PAL and Japanese Shenmue 2 boxes were beautiful, and the american box looks like it was drawn by an 8 year old. So if I were a new consumer, I would not want to buy the game, I would treat it like the black plague if I even managed to see it on the Shelf. As far as Shenmue 1 goes, the game sold really well, but to get out of the red on the games' budget, every dreamcast owner would have had to buy 2 copies. The same game could have been made for less, and more money spent on marketing. The fans of the game have been loyal, and the sales were as good as Sega and Microsoft allowed them to be on Xbox. If you released the past games on arcade, for new consumers to play, with achievements and everything, you would make money on work already completed, and create a new consumer base to make money off of. Not to mention we would stop bugging everyone about Shenmue. Win for everyone.

Re: The Call for Shenmue volume2
/signed I don't have much to add to the discussion that hasn't already been stated, but I wanted to add my support. I have Shenmue for Dreamcast, and even an unopened Dreamcast that I purchased when they were dumping em at firesale prices when the console was discontinued. It's still fun to go back and play the excellent games on that console. I also have the European copy of Shenmue 2, and purchased an XBox for the primary reason of being able to play it with English language audio. One question, someone earlier said that Microsoft dumped BC. I haven't played in a while, but is it still possible to play Shenmue 2 on the 360? I could dig my copy out of storage, but I figure someone here will know the answer. STILL hoping for Shenmue 3........

I too am a fan of the best gaming series ever, Shenmue. It would be pathetic if Shenmue 2 isnt released on the Xbox Originals list as hundreds of people want it to be and yet they put realy rubbish games up that no-one buys. Shenmue on the arcade is a must.

that would be a shed load of cash. with the size difference of a dreamcast disc x8 (4per game)
even at £20 for both with a slight update to graphics. millions of fans to this game. even half mil sales still in millions of cash. would then give game manufacturers some interest in the 3rd
