Re: GamerParents 5.0 ~ One Thread to rule them all ~
I have been seeing a lot of people on my friends list playing it ever since the trailer was released.  I've heard nothing but good things about it.  Maybe as a post-RE5 project.

It's not even $30 anymore it's $19.99 at GameStop for the 2 disk set which includes Bring Down the Sky DLC.

Great intro Xeno.

I'm nearing the 1million coins in Yaris at which time I will delete it forever.  If anyone would like me to load levels in multiplayer to complete the game let me know.  I can help with everything but full arsenal and the 1 million coins.  Secret hint you cannot die in multiplayer, it is quite easy.

I just started my 4th time through. Plus I had a couple of other play throughs that I got partially through and decided to switch to a different character type.

A bit late but here goes.
Nice intro Xeno, really entertaing and amusing as well as funny at some parts...
Made me read it all the way through, and the fact that you thought of it on your way to work (I think) is fantastic

Good morning.  On my way to work, and just wanted to stop in and brag about my almost 100% completion on Fable 2 yesterday.  I think I only have two more cheevos to go.  A pretty big accomplishment for me since I rarely go for 100% completion when it comes to cheevos.  I'll catch you guys after work.

Nice work, Pogre.  That's no small feat.  I'm surprized that there is only 50 pts for the DLC with that game.  When will the other 200 come?  Will it even?  As far as I am concerned, Gears 2, World at War, and SFIV have it right.  Bring out the DLC while the game is still hot.  GTA IV took almost a year.  That's way too long as far as I'm concerned.

I think it depends.  In some cases, it can revitalize interest in the game (like it has done to some extent to GTA 4).  You don't want to release paid DLC right after the game comes out, either.  I mean, if it was done, why wasn't it on the disc?  I mean, if you can keep a consistent DLC stream every 4-6 months or so, I think that seems to be an optimal range for that.  You aren't getting stuff out too fast, but you bring interest back to the game when it starts to wane out a bit.  Kind of like Burnout Paradise has done

i agree with lost. the GTA IV DLC has been "just long enough" for me to come back at the game and see it with fresh eyes. i will probably even go back and try to clean up a few more GTA IV proper cheev's once i'm done with TLAD

Thanks dude!  Actually, there are 100 points with the DLC.  I still have two more to go.  Hopefully they'll have some more content down the road.  I know not a lot of folks liked it, but Fable 2 really grabbed me.  I should be picking up another cheevo from it tonight.  Scratch and I have been gathering all the items for The Collector achievement.  I think between the two of us, we should be able to get it.

Yeah, I think a year is a bit long to wait to bring out DLC for a game.  A lot of folks will have traded off, or just plain lost intertest in a game by that time.  I think a few months is just about the right amonut of time to breath new life into a game that's on the wane.  I think most folks would be willing to spend a few bucks to stretch out a game given that time frame.  Worked for me.  Wink [;)]

Oblivion is a game I wish they would have kept with a bit longer as far as DLC.

I know there was a lot already but I really enjoyed Knights of the Nine and Shivering Isles.

I know SI was probibly too big a project to keep putting out content of that size but Knights of Nine is something I think they could have come out with a few more similar sized things. Plus the Maruns Razor dungon is also something I would have liked to see more of which you'd think could have been whipped up by one or two guys over a few weeks time and sold for some coinage.

The theme houses were nice too but I think those reached their limit.

I've gone after a lot of achievements that weren't completely fun.  1 Million coins in Yaris is one of those that I have not.  That is quite a feat.

I finally decided to finish Oblivion off and spent the weekend cleaning up on sidequests.  The scope of the game just blows me away - I'm around 30 hours into it and guessing I'm less that 10% into the main story.  There are just so many sidequests and places to explore.  Haven't played the dlc yet, but hear the questline is just as long as the main storyline.

Everytime they came out with DLC for Oblivion I would start a new character so I could play the new area without being Uber (we can still use the term Uber right? or is it Passae?) Powerfull, loved SI and MR.  I have over a 1K hours in that game, due in large part to a period of unemployment after getting out of the Army.

I hold this thread single handedly responsible for my recent bought with gaming nostalgia.  I would love to play Dead Rising, Mass Effect, Oblivion, and several other "retro" 360 titles.  I even stared down Kameo again last night for $10.

In the console gaming world, the answer is sadly...yes*.  I used to play games until they almost wore out when I was a PC gamer.  I found myself craving every new game when I came to the 360.  I have since shaken that off and I am pretty happy about it.

*It kind of reminds me of the classic Smurfs episode where a purple fly bites Lazy which cause him to turn purple and hop around yelling some thing like enough, enough.  He then starts biting all the smurfs in the rear causing them to be "infected".  (I am somewhat convinced that this is anti-people whose identity shall not be named in XBL profiles and gamertags propaganda.  You can read more about that theory this week on xenocidic.co....err I mean my blog...which you can find here.)  See Xeno is like Lazy smurf...really this analogy is applicable in many ways.

Maybe you don't know this, but being that I grew up in a French speaking environment, I was exposed to Les Schtroumpfs in comic books before they hit TV as The Smurfs, and that episode you mention was the main story of the very first Schtroumpf book, called "Les Schtroumpfs Noirs" or "The Black Smurfs."  So yes, in the original story, the evil purple coloured infected smurfs who would bite others on the tail (not the butt... THE TAIL) to spread their disease were not purple... but black.  Add that to your propaganda theories... :))

So finally got my 1 million fans cheevo in RB2. Been playing alot of challenges and Quick play. Not much actual World Tour. Might be the reason it took so long. Glad to finally get it though.
So I think I may pick up TCoR: AoDA and RE5 this month. Anyone going to get Halo Wars. I haven't played the demo. Any thoughts on it?
What are people picking up from the new games coming out? List.
Any input on SF:IV from those that have it? Is it worth $60? Will it end up on the shelf more then not? Is it worth getting if you don't plan on getting the Arcade stick?
School is going well enough. Couple weeks left for this term. Have a good day all.
Edit: Oh yeah and EJ, there's nothing wrong with wanting to play a platformer (Kameo) in this age of FPS's.

Honestly... why bother?

It is the tail in the English speaking as well...I changed it to rear...here is more spin on that may lend itself to your version.
